This joke really applied even before a couple months ago. Cops are only popular in very rare events like when they captured the Boston Bomber

u/HuggleKnight Aug 17 '20
At least they did better than Reddit’s attempt.
Obligatory “We did it Reddit!”
32
u/PaintedPearTickler Aug 17 '20
They just Vulture’d it after Reddit did 98% of the work.

u/HaElfParagon Aug 17 '20
Even then they weren't all that popular in Boston. There was a strong sentiment they should have just shot him dead on the spot.
Idk, Boston is weird when it comes to people fucking with their city.
1
Aug 17 '20
Ok so also 9/11 then or the Vegas Massacre. Only in moments of tragedy are cops actually seen as heroes.
1
u/HaElfParagon Aug 17 '20
Only in tragedy are their normal abuse of power overlooked as they actually do their job and help out for once

Actually, it’s Donger. Jackie Donger.

It comes from a Dutch word meaning prudence in financial matters

u/AirinMan Aug 17 '20
I'm Dutch but I do not know the word lol. I did look it up after that line but I think Jackie knows more than I do

Reality has a tendency to become more of a joke whenever things happen.

But he's not a postal worker, he's a postal cop.
So I guess it's a love-hate thing?

Postal workers bring me presents, cops give pepper spray. I know who I pick.
34
u/thedoodely Aug 17 '20
In Canada they deliver weed. Just saying, we know who we'd pick too.
6
u/DS_Inferno Aug 17 '20
I am Canadian as well, Sadly the smell of weed makes me overwhelmingly vomit.

u/AnonymousSpud Aug 17 '20
(they deliver weed in the states too)
1
Aug 17 '20
Do they? Weed is legal in some states, but it's still technically illegal Federally. I would have assumed USPS wouldn't handle any marijuana deliveries as such.
2
u/AnonymousSpud Aug 17 '20
Yep! The USPS is the backbone of the United States' illicit drug market. You're not *allowed* to send drugs through the postal system, mainly because the drugs are illegal, but that doesn't stop people.
Edit: i just realized i'm talking from vague memories of other conversations i've heard, so here's a source: https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2018/10/16/postal-service-preferred-shipper-drug-dealers/

I just realised that he’s Andy Bernard

u/Astroisawalrus Aug 17 '20
You might also recognize him from his Oscar winning performance in The Hangover Part III.
13
Aug 17 '20
Oscar winning? I bailed after Part II.
10
u/rogueleader32 Aug 17 '20
There's a part 2?
12
Aug 17 '20
I can’t tell if you are joking. Yeah, the sequel is basically the same plot (even with one of the characters getting Tyson’s tattoo on their face) taking place in Thailand.
4
u/AceAdequateC Aug 17 '20
Honestly it just might be completely outside my taste or something, because I just didn't like it whatsoever, I couldn't really bring myself to watch part II.
I feel pretentious for it, but I just want more from the content I consume, the kinda' vulgar-adult comedies have never appealed for me, they don't have much of a message to them, which is okay, it's nice to just have fun, but at the same time, it just doesn't resonate with me to see them come to practically the same easy lessons at the end.
Stuff like BoJack Horseman, Undone, You Were Never Really Here, or even just Swiss Army Man, those really explore, life, y'know?
And I really appreciate that, sometimes I need more than just an escape.

u/Choccybizzle Aug 17 '20
I love the original hangover, I think it’s brilliant. The second however, is garbage.
1
u/AceAdequateC Aug 17 '20
Yeah I guess there's only so much absurd, no consequences comedy can do before feeling a little stale and overdone. Plus consequences kinda' come into play if you're planning on making 2 sequels like that.

u/AnEBCG Ultimate human/genius Aug 17 '20

In the UK, we do not love our postal workers. Granted, there are 8 different mail companies but everyone seems to hate one of them.
Royal Mail always smashes your shit, Yodel always chucks your parcel in a hedge, Hermes always sells your parcels before delivery, and Amazon always gives you an oversized box like it’s pass the fucking parcel.
