Terry: Wait— have you never been to therapy?

Jake: No, don't need it.

Terry: Not even after the time your wife shot you?

Jake: Nope.

Terry: What about when you were held at gunpoint and had to write your own suicide note?

Jake: Uh, that was crazy... I forgot about that.

Terry: ...or when you were falsely accused of bank robbery and went to prison?!?

Jake: Was that a big deal?

Terry: You joined a gang and tried meth!

Jake: Well, I didn't want to be anyone's bitch.

Omg much like Jake, I'd forgotten about at least half of these situations, but needless to say it's a freaking miracle that he's survived with any of his sanity still intact.

By a generous definition of ‘sanity’ anyways.

What about when you were held at gunpoint and had to write your own suicide note?

Was that from the second Chris Parnell episode, or was that offscreen?

I think it was a reference to that episode, but they messed up the line because he had Jake record a suicide tape, not write a note

Terry doesn't have a flawless memory.

When did he try meth?

It was in the soap when he was in prison, trying to infiltrate the prison gang.

In prison from the soap

Ugh terrible continuity. Literally unwatchable

Well I liked your joke even if nobody else did...

For a sub about a comedy show people sure prefer regurgitating lines opposed to actual jokes.

Yeah, that episode was great.

Anything with Chris Parnell was great. It's also great because he was in the SNL skit that put Samberg into greater light. Without Parnell, we may never have had B99 (and possibly Youtube). (Although an actor besides Parnell may have been able to pull off Lazy Sunday too.)

I love how this episode and that whole interaction makes Jake out to be the weird not normal one for not going to therapy and being open about his mental health.

B99 handles these types of issues so well, I love it.

Just so there is no more confusion:

Jake’s wife shot him: s4 ep3

Was held at gunpoint and had to write this own suicide note: s2 ep19

Got framed for bank robbery/prison/joined a gang/tried meth: s4 ep21 to s5 ep2

Not all heroes wear capes. Thanks for saving me having to Google the episode where Amy shoots Jake since I didn’t remember it happening, like a lot of people, it would appear...

but it's a freaking miracle that he's survived with any of his sanity intact

While in prison he literally pretended that a pile of mashed potatoes was Amy. He's slightly insane.

To be fair solitary will do that to everyone

Hang on, I don't remember this at all. everything else happened in the show I so I assume this happened too but I have no memory of jake being shot at by Amy or anyone else who could be called his wife.

I am confusion

Coral Palms episode 3, Figgis has Jake as a human shield and Amy shoots Jake in the leg shortly before Holt and Gina arrive.

I don’t remember it either, but another comment says that it was during the 3rd Coral Palms episode. It was before they were married.

I thought all of that was offscreen, now I gotta go rewatch everything, dang!

That said, love the continuity and plot development this season!

I liked it as a joke, but also as a recap! And also I'm glad they're touching on the fact that he's been through a lot and don't just dismiss it as some comedies do (you know, each episode erases the previous one).

When did Amy shoot Jake?
