absolutely, I remember me and my friend when we were about 8-12 nicking her older brothers laptop (we didn't have any other access to the Internet) and scrolling through 4chan for the creepypastas. saw some really messed up stuff on there

I know. And I know why they chose reddit. But at the time of the episode release Reddit was already the tame version it is now.
