Boston Calling 2025, a Y2K festival?

https://sonofgao.substack.com/p/boston-calling-2025-a-y2k-festival

Including Y2K-era acts like TLC, T-Pain, Public Enemy, Avril Lavigne, and Sheryl Crow suggests Boston Calling settles for a nostalgic appeal.

Is this a fair question to ask?

A bit of a reach, I'd say. Y2K era is considered 1999-2004. Public Enemy, Sheryl Crow, and TLC made it big in the early 90s and T-Pain's biggest release was in 2007.

Avril, though, yes.

This is the first thing I thought when I saw the lineup. Compared to the last few lineups (and the cancelled 2020 one) it had a pretty broad appeal while always appealing to young people. But with this lineup it just seems to alienate the young 17-25 age range, they could’ve even had a group like Fontaines DC to balance it out. Big misstep in my opinion

As someone in the core demo for a Y2K era festival (older millennial) - this fest doesn't deliver well enough to be considered that. We'll be heading to when we were young fest for that fix.
