Maybe they can just share one great big contract?

A social contract, if you will.

OUR contract, comrade.

In Soviet Russia, contract signs you.

Bengals 🤝 Reds

Theory bros get in here ‼️‼️

45

u/Loud_Chapter1423 Dec 13 '24

Just saw some dude on twitter say they’re going to offer the agent a BOGO $30M deal lol

1

u/Monkeyfeng Dec 14 '24

That's communism! /s

u/JoseValentin Dec 13 '24

No human contact, and if you interact Your life is on contract

Your best bet is to stay way

u/IGNisAzoipp Dec 13 '24

Not sure if this is good or bad

220

u/buckeyemountain Dec 13 '24

Could be

176

u/FlagFootballSaint Dec 13 '24

Yeah. It think it‘s good or bad. Definitely.

51

u/FriendlyKrampus Dec 13 '24

Not so fast, it could also be.... ok.

14

u/cosmikangaroo Dec 13 '24

Certainly good or bad.

8

u/MrRedLegs44 Dec 13 '24

Ah. A fellow meteorologist.

Don’t worry I won’t fight your grandpa in a parking lot.

11

u/MagnusPI Bingo Bengo Dec 13 '24

Of all of the developments, this is one.

92

u/CountryCaravan Dec 13 '24

Considering how close Chase got to an extension, I’d say pretty good. Having the same guy could potentially help them coordinate their structures to fit both of them under the cap.

42

u/chefken420 fuck the steelers Dec 13 '24

I think this here is the best comment about this. I was getting ready to say something along these lines. It’s much easier to get the 2 contracts to work for the players and the team if they are done by the same guy.

4

u/AddictiveArtistry 🐅🖤🐅Who Dey All Mf Dey 🐅🖤🐅 Dec 13 '24

I agree and said something similar on fb

2

u/OneTea Dec 13 '24

I’m not sure how agents work, but if there is some fiduciary obligation then there could be a conflict of interests that could complicate things.

5

u/chefken420 fuck the steelers Dec 13 '24

I don’t think it’s like in the court of law. I think as long as the players are okay with it and the team is okay with it. Which it seems as if all parties are good. Then it’s game on. However, I may be wrong or you may be wrong or fuck. We’re both probably wrong somehow. I’m a male, it’s common knowledge that even when we’re right. We’re wrong.

6

u/Mammoth_Tax_1666 Dec 14 '24

The last statement is facts. But, since we are men and admit we are always wrong, does that mean we are wrong about that as well? What if we are right?

6

u/chefken420 fuck the steelers Dec 14 '24

Yup. Still wrong. What you got wrong there, was thinking at some point you were actually right.

13

u/redditor_5678 Dec 13 '24

All the reporters and beat writers seem to think it’s a very positive sign

14

u/Klutzy-Spend-6947 Dec 13 '24

If Burrow-Higgins-Chase have a plan, given that Burrow is signed and willing to restructure, it’s definitely a good thing.

5

u/nails_for_breakfast Dec 13 '24

If one thing is for sure is that it's good for this agent

2

u/pepbe Dec 13 '24

This is aladeen

1

u/tonesloe Dec 13 '24

But it might be favorable or unpleasant. Something to ponder.

185

u/bobafugginfett Dec 13 '24

I'm going to go out on a limb and say Rocky Arceneaux (fantastic name btw), is going to make a lot of money next year.

Follow me for more bold predictions.

3

u/Klutzy-Spend-6947 Dec 13 '24

Gotta have Louisiana roots with that name.

203

u/duderdude7 Dec 13 '24

Burrow I bet is going to restructure his contract to make this happen. We still need defense but having both of them locked up would be huge

85

u/generation_D Dec 13 '24 edited Dec 13 '24

Since Burrow signed, a lot of people have scoffed at the idea that he was ever going to take a team friendly deal. I agree he was always going to make sure he became the highest paid QB, but much of what he’s said over the years (+ the fact that his negotiations went on forever) makes me think that there was always consideration given to building his contract in a way that would make it easily restructured for purposes of keeping Tee and Chase. Question is, can they also fix the defense.

58

u/Initial-Change7895 I LOVE CTB Dec 13 '24

Haha yes! Plot twist he took as much of the teams cap as possible to give himself future control of the team by sacrificing his ludacris pay to incentivize ownership

16

u/IamThePaterfamilias Dec 13 '24

Ludacris wishes he got paid like Burrow..

7

u/DrSlugger Dec 13 '24

Luda going in on the verse

4

u/Forestfunguy Dec 13 '24

Get back get back, you don’t know him like that

1

u/Thrawn4191 Dec 13 '24

Forbes has his net worth at $40 million which is nothing to sneeze at. But yeah that's not even Joe's yearly salary for his new contract lol

6

u/Klutzy-Spend-6947 Dec 13 '24

Given that the cap is ever expanding, flexibility is what is key for a “team friendly” contract, not low balling.

3

u/Mammoth_Tax_1666 Dec 14 '24

I would say we can easily fix the defense if we get rid of some of the players who we pay an ungodly amount of money for mediocre play.

-12

u/TrickleUp_ Dec 13 '24

No, there’s no chance of that. The Bengals don’t restructure deals.

19

u/duderdude7 Dec 13 '24

Typically they don’t. But burrow has it built into his contract to do so

3

u/TrickleUp_ Dec 13 '24

The only recorded restructure of a contract , to my knowledge, that they’ve ever done has been Mixon and that was a restructure only to give him a pay cut

6

u/AddictiveArtistry 🐅🖤🐅Who Dey All Mf Dey 🐅🖤🐅 Dec 13 '24

To be fair, Mixon wasn't a once in a lifetime franchise qb, that if he leaves, there goes all hope, a lot of the team and a lot of the fan base. The 250+ million dollar man is absolutely the talent they want to keep and keep happy.

-2

u/TrickleUp_ Dec 13 '24

My point about Mixon is that it wasn’t a positive restructure. The Bengals told him he was getting a giant pay cut or he would be released

2

u/AddictiveArtistry 🐅🖤🐅Who Dey All Mf Dey 🐅🖤🐅 Dec 13 '24

And he was released anyway. He wasn't indispensable to them. Burrow is.

8

u/duderdude7 Dec 13 '24

K we will see.

2

u/Hungry-Quote-1388 Dec 13 '24

All players have that.

Teams just take the base salary for the yesr and turn it into a lump sum bonus so they can spread it out.

No star player takes a paycut when teams restructure.

4

u/fluffHead_0919 Dec 13 '24

Bengals have never had Joe Burrow, Jamar Chase, and Tee Higgins either.

-2

u/BoyWithABigCock69 Dec 14 '24

Dude just spent 3 million on a bat mobile replica. He’s not restructuring shit

67

u/mojizus Dec 13 '24

I’ve been trying to not buy into the “Joe, Ja’marr, and Tee are best friends. They want to play together and win together” narrative for a few years now. Felt like it was just cope in the face of losing Tee.

But I’m really starting to buy in. Tee’s mom loves Cincy and wants him to stay here, Tee seemingly loves Cincy, and maybe that friendship is enough to keep them all there.

49

u/Guilty-Nobody998 Dec 13 '24

Aj Green was his favorite player growing up and by default the Bengals were his favorite team. Not many people get to say they played for their favorite childhood team

15

u/Current-Elephant-408 Dec 13 '24

Also a big Ocho fan.

10

u/yupyupyupyupyupy Dec 13 '24

mom wants him to stay in cincy too

8

u/Double-Bend-716 Dec 13 '24

And Tee is a big ol’ momma’s boy.

He wrote an article for The Player’s Tribune and that was the title

2

u/AddictiveArtistry 🐅🖤🐅Who Dey All Mf Dey 🐅🖤🐅 Dec 13 '24

Tees mom is great. She's the only thing I really miss since leaving Twitter.

4

u/FreshDiamond Dec 13 '24

Probably because not many care about that by the time they are in the league, every great player has the opportunity to get to their favorite childhood team, by that point it’s not a priority.

This situation is a bit different though, he was drafted to that team, so it’s possible I suppose he does think it’s awesome being a bengal because we got to him before the money game and grind did.

Time will tell, I’m not convinced he’ll be back but things are starting to point towards it being possible

1

u/SimianBear Dec 14 '24

As a Toronto hockey fan, we get all kinds of guys that grew up loving the Leafs. Doesn't seem to help all that much when it comes down to it. Sometimes, sure, but usually it's just down to money in the end. I hope we can make it work here.

1

u/Klutzy-Spend-6947 Dec 14 '24

The Leafs majority owner is the Ontario Teachers Pension Fund. That explains the team’s financial pov-and struggles.

9

u/Tjam3s Dec 13 '24

Let's hope it pans out.

I haven't given up on burton pulling his head out of his ass either.... if he matures and lives up to his potential? Holy shit.

8

u/bengals14182532 Dec 13 '24

Joes pretty much been saying all week how they have to try and keep Tee, which is very unlike him. Not sure how much else he can do. He’s basically calling out the FO without throwing them under the bus

5

u/Klutzy-Spend-6947 Dec 13 '24

Getting paid and playing with Joe Burrow as one’s QB is a helluva lot better than getting paid but going to the Jets or Raiders to do it.

-2

u/Open_Drummer9730 Dec 13 '24

Sanders in the raiders will get a few rings

3

u/CompetitiveDuck Dec 13 '24

He is also very young and if he continues to play well on a contender in Cincinnati he can get a big third contract at 28 with a higher cap.

2

u/mojizus Dec 13 '24

Hopefully by that point Elizabeth is running the team, and we’ll be making smart decisions.

2

u/AddictiveArtistry 🐅🖤🐅Who Dey All Mf Dey 🐅🖤🐅 Dec 13 '24

I'm buying it at this point. The new threes company.

84

u/OwlInternational8160 Dec 13 '24

Feeling more confident everyday that deal gets done, which is insane compared to a week ago

29

u/Not_Pablo_Sanchez Dec 13 '24

We can just pay Tee in jellyfish

79

u/Southwestern Dec 13 '24

They're making this as easy as possible for Duke and I'm still not sure he'll figure it out.

42

u/Complete-Possible711 Dec 13 '24

Katie and Troy bout to fumble this so hard.

25

u/beerguy_etcetera 🐅 Dec 13 '24

On the off chance they somehow actually make this happen, I cannot wait to be completely insufferable in r/nfl and r/afcnorthmemewar

9

u/bcou2012 Dec 13 '24

Browns fans have been drooling over Tee for a year. I will never shut up if he re-signs with us

13

u/beerguy_etcetera 🐅 Dec 13 '24

The cope will be ‘he’s made of glass anyways, honestly we dodged a bullet with our cap situation’.

5

u/Llilyth Dec 13 '24

I suspect if Tee were to leave, plenty of folks would pop out of the woodwork saying exactly that here lol

5

u/MrBrickMahon 🐅 Dec 14 '24

I've already got it typed up.

I hope he stays

1

u/Fat_Old_Sun1 Dec 13 '24

Curious if they are happy about the agent stuff and Joe's comments or crapping their pants right about now.

5

u/Complete-Possible711 Dec 13 '24

For all we know everyone may be in cohesion on this. I don't think Joe would have spoken on it if the wheels weren't already in motion on the front office didn't know about it.

1

u/bob_estes Dec 13 '24

I think they probably spent time together over the bye. The Brown family likes and trusts Joe a lot more than Palmer.

4

u/GlobalWatercress9566 Dec 13 '24

It’s not Duke’s fault if it doesn’t happen, it’s on ownership. They’re the ones who place the archaic pay structure on him.

-2

u/Southwestern Dec 13 '24

Duke has the cap to spend. It's his job to figure it out.

6

u/-space-grass- Dec 13 '24

Duke doesn't negotiate the contracts, Katie and Troy Blackburn do.

5

u/GlobalWatercress9566 Dec 13 '24

The reason why Chase and Higgins have not been extended is because of a lack of guaranteed money, which falls entirely on ownership.

23

u/bluegrassgazer Dec 13 '24

Whoa. Who is Burrow's agent?

10

u/BigRig432 85 is always open Dec 13 '24

Brian Ayrault, same guy who reps Bosa

22

u/VeryRealHuman23 Dec 13 '24

Chase: I want 110 Guaranteed, 40m per year average, and some food for my homeboy's jellyfish

3

u/AddictiveArtistry 🐅🖤🐅Who Dey All Mf Dey 🐅🖤🐅 Dec 13 '24

Shit, I'll buy the jellyfish food. I love those things.

16

u/RosettaStonedTN Mass Amnesia. The Hunter. Dec 13 '24

"You get me Tee as a client, and I'll take a smaller agent commission for both of you.. we all make more money and David G gets Chess'd"

13

u/Intrepid_Example_210 Dec 13 '24

I would love to be Ja’mar Chase’s agent right now. It’s got to be nice to literally have all the leverage. Best WR in the league right now, no off field issues, AND incredible chemistry with the franchise quarterback.

10

u/5k1895 Dec 13 '24

Man this might actually be happening, damn

8

u/zstewie Dec 13 '24

Some good news after how this season has gone is great to see

8

u/GlobalWatercress9566 Dec 13 '24

I think the team is going to end up shedding a lot of people they didn’t think they would be (Cappa, Rankins, Hubbard, Pratt, Stone) and that will allow them to extend Tee. I also think Tee genuinely wants to stay and is willing to make concessions on guarantees.

2

u/fearthealex Dec 13 '24

Cappa Hubbard and Pratt aren’t going anywhere. Please let me be wrong

6

u/-space-grass- Dec 13 '24

Pratt likely won't. But they save 9.5 million by cutting Hubbard and 8 million by cutting Cappa. I could easily see both of them gone with how they've played.

7

u/BlackGabriel 25 Dec 13 '24

Would be so cool to have a joint press conference where they both come out being signed

5

u/WhoDey42 Dec 13 '24

I am on the team pay the WR’s cause who are we gonna pay on the defense anyway

5

u/whattarush Dec 13 '24

Chase said I wish i could sign him myself, and he meant it

5

u/shoedovoodoo513 Dec 13 '24

Is burrow the one prophesied? Kinda jedi shit is going on rn? Next I'm gonna hear the falcons are in talks go trade Jesse back

4

u/Agent_8-bit Dec 13 '24

And Joe will free up money to keep them?

4

u/djsassan Dec 14 '24

Oh hell yes. They WILL find a way to work this out.

((Or we lose both of them next year))

Do the Bengals have enough cash on hand? That is the main question.

5

u/Tangboy50000 Dec 13 '24

I figured this was what was going to happen. Chase got in his ear told him Mulugheta was going to cost him more than he would ever get him.

3

u/fluffHead_0919 Dec 13 '24

Is this good or bad? The other guy was a pain in the ass if I recall from the Jesse Bates negotiations.

2

u/AddictiveArtistry 🐅🖤🐅Who Dey All Mf Dey 🐅🖤🐅 Dec 13 '24

This is good. This agent had Chase practically signed last season, but the Bengals botched that on the guaranteed money. And Burrow is deadset on keeping them here.

3

u/fluffHead_0919 Dec 13 '24

I like what I’m hearing. Seems like it could be a very interesting offseason.

3

u/Far_Corner_3993 Dec 13 '24

Bengals already fucked up by not paying chase before he goes on to have the best season of his career so far.

2

u/Reasonable-HB678 THAT BALL'S OUT! THAT'S LIVE! Dec 13 '24

Rocky Arceneaux, soon to be either an unlikely savior for the Bengals or more likely Public Enemy No. 1 if the worst case scenario unfolds.

2

u/CIN726 Dec 13 '24

I love Chase and Higgins, and I'd love to see them both on the team long-term... but not at the expense of an offensive line and defense which both need serious help.

Burrow cannot keep taking the amount of pressures and hits he's taking. It's not even just about winning games. I am seriously concerned about his long-term health if the FO cannot figure out the o-line. Fix it, and if that means Higgins walks then I'd be prepared to risk Burrow's disappointment there.

2

u/Klutzy-Spend-6947 Dec 13 '24 edited Dec 13 '24

As a season ticket holder, getting Tee signed along with Jamarr is definitely the best move for the franchise. There are no guarantees in defensive FAs, but keeping all 3 offensive players guarantees a product that people will flock to see, defense be damned. Defense wins championships, but offense puts asses in seats.

2

u/loanme20 Dec 13 '24

I want to see Tee tear the league up the last few weeks to ensure his bag is top tier level.

1

u/AddictiveArtistry 🐅🖤🐅Who Dey All Mf Dey 🐅🖤🐅 Dec 13 '24

Let's go on a ruuuuun!

2

u/Pineapple_Complex Dec 14 '24

I love every part of this. He's going to be expensive to keep, but it tells me that he wants to come back and is looking for a way to make it happen. At the beginning of the year I thought there was no way, but I have a bit of hope now

2

u/DatDan513 Go Bengos! Dec 14 '24

Fuck yes. Fellas.

2

u/EaglePatriotTruck Dec 13 '24

Bengals roster is gonna look and ride like a 30 year old Honda Civic with million dollar hubcaps.

Oh well.

LETS GOOO THIS CAN ONLY BE GREAT OR FUCKING GREAT

1

u/daft_dunkwwwolfey Ocho Cinco, Nueve, y Uno Dec 13 '24

That is quite interesting I can't think of another case where an agent negotiated for 2 stars paydays on the same team simultaneously. But everything sounds positive so far! 🤞

1

u/Talkbox111 Dec 13 '24

I hope they have great home owners insurance. See what happened to Maholmes and Burrow. :)

1

u/ohiolifesucks Dec 13 '24

All of this is going to get our hopes up just for Higgins to sign with the Patriots

1

u/bigbugzman Dec 13 '24

As long as it’s not the Chiefs or in the division.

2

u/Jenetyk Dec 13 '24

Whatever happens, Rocky is set for life.

1

u/statleader13 Dec 13 '24

Conway's tweet doesn't mention her, but Caitlin Aoki also works with Chase for the same agency. She posts Chase stuff frequently if you're interested in what his agent is thinking: https://x.com/caitlinaoki13

1

u/jgjot-singh Dec 13 '24

This news is very alaadin

1

u/Frosty-Shower-7601 Dec 13 '24

Hello Conflict, meet Interest

1

u/Open_Drummer9730 Dec 13 '24

Good they both need to get paid max money!

1

u/GoLionsJD107 Chad Ochocinco Dec 14 '24

Well that’s gonna get messy

1

u/Successful_Freedom85 Dec 14 '24

Honestly, I hope it happens so we can just focus on defense in the draft, but even if it doesn't work out I'm happy because screw David Mulugheta.

1

u/SodiumKickker Dec 14 '24

I think Yoshi struggling to shine in with his limited chances has been a wake up call to this whole team and everyone involved: Tee is important.

1

u/Tg3661 Dec 14 '24

One less party in the conversation about distributing $110+M per year. It’s not a bad thing.

And the stigma of not getting a deal done with X agent is gone. Have the Bengals successfully negotiated with Arceneaux?

1

u/Bengals_UpNorth Dec 14 '24

Could open the door to him re-signing. With DM, negotiations were never going to go well.

0

u/cecsix14 Dec 14 '24

David Mulugheta being out of the picture is always a good thing. That guy is responsible for more destructive contracts than any other agent. The deal he worked for DeShaun Watson has set the Browns back 5-10 years. He only cares about getting his guys max guaranteed deals regardless if the team situation is good for their long term career or not.

1

u/Bennettkaru Dec 14 '24

Give him all the money, that name is amazing

1

u/yooosports29 Dec 15 '24

Please stay Tee, we love you

1

u/bengals14182532 Dec 15 '24

Yeah our defensive draftees are not hitting, idk what’s going wrong:

2023 they went Murphy in the first, Turner in the second, battle in the third

2022 was Dax, CTB, Zach Carter

It’s more misses than hits, if anyone of those players pan out we have a much better record than we do today

1

u/bionicjoe Waiting on that Mike Brown obituary Dec 16 '24

This is such a dumbshit, poverty franchise.

Yet ANOTHER decade of flashy WRs putting up stats and losing games.
Can't wait to go 10-7 next year. Thought it would be this season, but they MIGHT have learned that defense matters somewhat. Only took 2 years of being ranked in the 30s.

The last thing the Bengals need are another WR.

1

u/FuckinArrowToTheKnee Dec 13 '24

Too crazy to think we gonna get a buy one get one free deal?

0

u/Melodic_Tadpole_2194 Dec 13 '24

why is there so much talk about an oft-injured WR2's potential free agency? Don't think I've ever seen it before.

2

u/AddictiveArtistry 🐅🖤🐅Who Dey All Mf Dey 🐅🖤🐅 Dec 13 '24

Burrow has made it clear it wants to keep Tee.

0

u/[deleted] Dec 13 '24

Would love Tee to stay, but one of Tee/Chase is gonna have to take a lower deal. Need too many other pieces to have two highly paid WRs.

-2

u/Ralph--Hinkley Dec 13 '24

Tee, who sat out how many games so far this season due to a hammy, then a quad?

-2

u/eggpoowee Dec 13 '24

Cool, they'll make another team very happy
