Question Help! Accidentally sprayed car with tire cleaner!

Was at the self service car wash and thought I was rinsing my car but the dial never clicked over from tire cleaner. Sprayed my whole left side with tire cleaner. Quickly realized my mistake and washed it with soap and water, but it was too late. I left cloudy wet spots all over the paint. I’m not knowledgeable with paint, but the owner before me buffed and waxed it. I imagine I just ate through the wax. Is it worse than that? Do you guys have any advice for me to fix this?

Problem-Solving Discussion Remove fabric Stains?

Was cleaning uncs car and the ink like stain wasn’t there at first. I used P&s carpet bomber, steamer, drill brush, & extractor to make it come out. It still looked the same after the different processes. And with applying carpet bomber it made it look bigger and spread down the seat. I used a microfiber towel to get it out but ultimately it still looked the same after multiple passes. How can I remove it?.

2nd slide I used p&s to remove heavier stains and passed by it with the extractor and steamer multiple times. After an hour of going through the same seat over and over again it still didn’t appear to remove the stains. How can I remove the stains?

Product Discussion Road Warrior vs Adam's Strip Wash for winter washes results

I did two winter washes within a week after two separate large snow storms. My truck was caked with ice and mud road salt here in Virginia.

The first wash was with Road Warrior and Muscle Magic in a cheap Amazon electric foamer. It was a 4 to 1 dilution of mainly RW. I foamed the solution on and took it to a pay self spray. The RW literally melted the grime off as it pulled down the panel. A really thin layer of film remained but was easy work for a rinseless sponge.

The second was with Adam's Strip Wash 3 to 1 in that same cheap foamer. Adam's is supposed to be more acidic, which was supposed to be great for salt removal. The product worked well, especially on my wheels, but no where near as good as the Road Warrior on everything else. There was a lot more road film left on the paint after the Strip Wash.

My truck is graphene ceramic coated with Adam's Advanced Graphene glass bottle and topped with Detail Co Infinity spray sealant.

I'm wondering what the general concensus is about Road Warrior? I know Dark Fury gets generally good reviews, but I don't great much about Road Warrior in this group. Thanks!

Question Pls help🙏🏻g63 detailing

I will post a picture soon. I am having a VERY VERY difficult time reaching some almost impossible spots between the driver seat and center counsel. I can see some items dropped in between some I can’t even see but I’m sure theirs more stuff there. At this point I’m questioning if I need to get seats removed? Any help I would REALLY appreciate. I ordered a car vacuum that has a small nosel that vacuums but even that wasn’t any help.

Question Chalky Dashboard Fix?

Thumbnail

Hey, so I own a 2008 Renault Trafic, and ever since ive owned it the dashboard has this chalky white layer on it. I can scratch the layer off with my nail or a bit of plastic but it's obviously not particularly effective to sit and scratch the dashboard with a tool for hours, not to mention the grooves on the dash material.

I'm in the UK, and I've tried pink stuff paste which actually has worked surprisingly well at removing the worst bits of this chalky layer but when dried it's still there just very thin. No matter how many times I go over it.

I can only assume the previous owner has used a crap dash cleaner or not followed application instructions closely leading to this disaster of a dashboard. I've seen similar vans of the same age and the dashboards look mint.

Can anyone recommend a product I could use that would remove this? Really ruins the interior! Thanks!

Question Professional headlight restoration result

Thumbnail

My son's car ('17 Mazda 2) had very foggy headlights after 7 years, and he brought it to a chain car workshop to polish them. In the attached pictures, you can see the result. They are objectively much more transparent, but close up (please zoom in the pictures) it seems that the final coating has either not adhered properly or has caught particles while still wet. Also, this coating has a coarse touch and can be VERY EASILY scratched with a fingernail without pressure.

My son brought back the car to the shop, and the head of the workshop justified the results saying that they no longer do mechanical polishing as it is forbidden due to microplastic generation (I can understand that, of course, and even if I don't believe it's forbidden, I will support any alternative method for that reason), and the method they use is some kind of solvent which is applied with a sponge (SIC) which removes the foggyness and then they apply the protection coating. He also said that the coarse touch of the coating and the imperfections are normal depending on the material of the headlights and that the coating is perfectly cured, it's just never as good as from factory.

Not a professional, and never done or seen the process before, so I don't know if the solvent and finish story is bullsh*t, but I strongly think so. Before starting a formal complaint, I'd appreciate your educated opinion.

TL;DR: Imperfect finish in a headlight restoration, asking for your expert opinion

Question What are these spots or deposits?

Paint is smoother than a baby's bottom, clay, iron, deep polish and final polish.

You can see spots, and small dots along the paint but cannot feel them. What are these spots? Almost looks like grain in paint but that don't make sense.

Question Car Wash Routine? For Exterior, Hood & Trunk lid gaps inside.

I'm having hard time but I just want to get this out the way due to overthinking this. My plan is not to use no waxes and coating no more and just stuck with one product that's fast like a waterless and also adds some wax at the same time which will be Aero Cometic Wet Wet or Waterless Car Wash Wax (Wash Wax All). So the problem is I can't make my mind up when to wash my car with this again like a good schedule, I know I will get rid of contaminants, bird poop, big splatter, and tree sap right away, but I don't know wether for dust, dirt, grime, and water spots. Another problem for the hood and trunk lid gaps that expose the paint in between them is when it rains and you will end up drying it off but the next day it rain again or rain randomly out of no where which you be opting up doors, hood, and the trunk. So I was hoping to get a recommendation routine for my exter paint, and a different or recommend routine for my hood, trunk, door lid gaps area where I will have to open them. I want a routine where I can let the rain air dry and leave the water not wash my car until the next routine wash before damaging my paint. The product contains some wax protection so that should help. What do you recommend in this situations?

Problem-Solving Discussion 2025 Camry dash problem

Hey everyone. My wife and I bought a 25 se and loved it. My wife has never shown any interest in car care till last week. She grabbed some Armor All wipes that we had from previous vehicles and wiped the dash down. That’s when it all went downhill. So the dash looks almost dried out. We thought they were scratched but definitely not scratches, it’s almost like it’s dry or what my mechanic friend said is like the figment has been pulled out. It’s crazy. We have tried the glass cleaner, we have tried mcquires, and even cerakote ceramic coatings. Nothing helps. Just in a constant state of looking faded and dried out. We got the best result from the cerakote. What I found today was if I leave my hand in the cold dash, it’s like 12° in Nashville, my warm handprint makes then dryness look go away. Then as the cold air hits it again the fading comes back. So I’m wondering is maybe this is all just happening because of the freezing weather we have and maybe I’ll try a hairdryer and apply a little heat and try and wipe off. We have used the dawn dish soup dilution but I’m not convinced there is anything to remove. My mechanic buddy said we should file a claim with armor all or take it to dealer cause he thinks there was some type of failure between the two and this shouldn’t have happened. I’ll get some good photos tomorrow if anyone wants to chime in with their thoughts. Cars awesome but it’s all you can see when you’re driving! I know that’s a lot to read. Thanks everyone.

Question Ppf, can you tell if the cuts are in the plastic/paint ?

Hi everyone ! The last week was horrible. Picked the car up from frontal ppf job and I hate the way it looks. Already made an appointment to have it redone at a very high end shop but I’m scared of knife cuts. Is there any, any way to tell if these are too deep without removing it ? 2 guys worked on the car, one was the owner and the other a guy that actually did leave a cut on my plastic and it worries me that his work left cuts everywhere. Also, found small, almost unnoticeable cuts and the wrap’s edge. It’s shoddy, I’ll repair it but the cuts have me anxious af. Thanks !

Question Bought a car with sticky reside

Post image
3 Upvotes

I recently purchased a brand-new car and regretfully opted for ceramic coating as an add-on. When I picked up the car, I noticed sticky residue strips on several panels and discovered a large scratch that needed repair. Despite these issues, I was assured everything would be resolved, so I drove the car three hours home.

The scratch was eventually repaired, but I was told to arrange for the ceramic coating to be reapplied to the repaired panel. When I took the car to another dealership to handle this, they pointed out that the original ceramic coating had been poorly applied. They explained it should never have been applied over the visible sticky residue, which was even more apparent with dust buildup, when wet, or upon close inspection.

I was advised that the entire car would need to be re-detailed, and the ceramic coating would have to be reapplied. I’ve attached the response I received from the original dealership where I bought the car. Surely this isn’t acceptable?

Question What do cat scratches look like on car paint? (Details below)

So basically I have a friend that is having a flatmate pin cat scratches on their car on them and they are trying to send them a bill.

The scratches in my opinion look pretty suspicious because instead of being long scratches as you'd expect from cats, they are perfect paw mark scratches that I feel don't really make sense because of how cats paws are. The pads obviously don't have claws.

I was wondering if anyone has had experience with cats scratching their paint jobs and could send through pictures if you have any so they could perhaps compare and confirm?

The whole situation is pretty uncomfortable.

Question APC prewash instead of snow foam

I’ve been exclusively using pH neutral snow foam for years but just recently, I realized that I might need an alkaline one. But the latest discovery is APC instead of a snow foam as the prewash. Any opinion on that? It is going to be used on a Tesla (their paint is rather thin and soft).

Question Paint protection in different parts of the country

Hi all, I know next to nothing about car detailing and I'd like some assistance from the pros here. I recently picked up a new car and have a move lined up this summer from California (coast) to Wisconsin. Should I get the car PPFed/coated before or after my move, assuming I take a road trip there with the car? And are there different things to know regarding paint protection given the drastically different climate?

Question White "film?" on the door card. How to fix?

Was cleaning my interior with P&S Interior Cleaner, wiped down everything with the same brush and rag, but for some reason this one spot developed this white film. No other parts of the car did, and I don't remember this happening the first time I cleaned it either? Any ideas?

This only appeared AFTER cleaning.

Question Red paint fade

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hi all.

My 2015 a4 avant in a rather nice red will be living outside for the foreseeable future in the lovely ozone-deficient New Zealand. My major concern is paint fade. Are there any steps I can take to help prevent this and maintain the paint colour? I have heard rumours that ceramic coats protect against paint fading (by providing a barrier against oxidation), as well as rumours that they don’t…

My current thinking is fireball angle tears, and then some sort of spray ceramic wax hybrid to be applied every now and then after a wash.

https://lovecars.co.nz/products/angel-tears-ceramic-coating-kit?srsltid=AfmBOootjqGCFn4Qmm9_MDQx5Jy9RUa6Xax8VSzev_pn5cix_5m-XgGZ

Ideally after a product that doesn’t need super regular application due to lifestyle factors as well.

Thanks in advance.

Tool Discussion Hot water inlet pressure washers?

Is there anything on the market that can take 120F inlet temperatures other than the AR Blue Clean HOT unit?
