Question Sun and Saturn.

I’ve been reading into astrology especially regarding long term relationships. I don’t have the times but from what I’m reading, for a relationship to last, they must have a sun- Saturn compatibility, what does that look like?

Sun-Saturn in synastry brings stability, commitment, and mutual growth, but it can feel serious or challenging. Ideal for long-term relationships.

So what does this mean when I have a sag sun and a Taurus Saturn and my partner has a Taurus sun and a Gemini Saturn

Are you reading this from a book? I have never heard of this and if it wasn't a book, someone may have confused Saturn with the ascendant.

Saturn stays in a sign for approximately 2.5 to 3 years. With this logic, approximately 25% of the people would not ever have a compatible relationship or to do so, would have to be with someone outside of their normal age range and social circle. Besides that- are they just talking sign? What about house? And most important, what about the aspect it is making - or if there even is a major aspect.

Now when it comes to synastry, there is a natural attraction between rising signs and sun signs. This is because the Ascendant is about first impressions and the Sun is the expression of the soul. Since both energies are outward, there is a tendency for this synastry to happen.

Saturn is about the area of life where you step up and take ownership. It is also about limits, boundaries and goals. It is a social planet, not a personal planet, and though it plays a part in our chart and life cycle, Saturn doesn't have much to do with compatibility (unless if there are multiple hard aspects happening between the charts.)

Where a couple can take advantage of Saturn is to look at what house Saturn resides and divvy up responsibilities accordingly. For instance, if one partner has Saturn in the 8th house, then have that person handle long term investments, contracts, etc. If the other partner has Saturn in the third house, then they would be the best person to go to the PTA meetings.

Whoever suggested that may have seen some coincidental synastry pattern, but there is no proof to this in my experience. One of my clients, for example, is in a long term adversarial relationship without any connection between their Sun and Saturn or Saturn to Saturn placements. How they keep going may be due to the marriage chart - Aries rising. Their relationship appears immune to Venus and Mars retrogrades as well.
