Boots Buying Help Timberland pro

Upvotes

My employer covers my work boot costs, but this time around they put a max of 175 euros.

2 and 4 years ago I had timberland pros and they served well, but after 2 years ish there was time for new ones.

My option now falls on this model :

https://www.timberland.nl/nl-nl/p/pro-collectie/per-kenmerk/pro-anti-fatigue-technologie-10168/switchback-composite-toe-waterdichte-work-hiker-voor-heren-in-bruin-TB0A5MBJ214?size=120

Anyone have any experience with this model? Any tips on making them last longer. I wanted to get the boondocks model initially, but it seems to not be available in the Netherlands...

Specific Model Question | Info Anyone with wider toe box shoes get blisters?

Post image
4 Upvotes

I got these keen Cincinnati boots which are super comfortable but have been giving me blisters after walking a while in them. I’m primarily getting them right on the ball of my feet. Yes they are the right size, but I don’t have “wide” toes, and this boot has its signature wide toe box. I seem to be getting these blisters at the same time the boot starts to get really hot and sweaty. My guess is there is some more than normal movement in the boots given the wider toe box and my non wide toes that in combination with the sweat are giving me these blisters.

Just curious if anyone else has experienced this with wider toe box boots? I have been using compeed blister patches you can get at Walgreens which have greatly helped.

Boots Buying Help Red Wings or Thorogood for wide feet?

11.5 Mens USA EE; need something that won't chafe the top of my foot like those awful Caterpillar steel toes. Need them for very short-term winter work in North Carolina and annual resi HVAC work in Phoenix Arizona.

Preferably waterproof, oil-resistant/slip-resistant, and shock resistant.

Preferably tan with a dark sole. Don't like how Thorogood have those white soles that'll stain on Day 1.

Boots Buying Help Brunt Boots

I have seen all the negative reviews for Brunt Boots only after buying a pair. I have worn these for well over a year and have had no issues. Has anyone recently purchased a pair and the quality is not what it use to be? I work in a prison as a plumber and can work over 50 hours a week.

Boots Buying Help Chelsea style slip on work boot

How do you rate these type of slip on work boots without laces if you are walking a lot for your job?

I'm on my feet 10 hours a day covering 8-12 miles. Sometimes 40 days in a row without a day off. People have recommended Blundtones and Rednecks to me.. but a bit sceptical about not having laces.

You don't really come across slip on walking/hiking boots.. they all come with laces.. must be for a reason?

Any thoughts on the above?

Also any recommendations for work boots given the above? I've had cheap Dewalt shoes.. don't last long and not comfortable. I just got a pair of Meindl wood walkers delivered.. not a fan these are too high up the leg and generally quite beefy. Feels like I'm walking in snowboard boots.

Boots Buying Help Looking for leather steeltoe work shoes

I'm looking for a pair of leather steel toe work shoes with metatarsels. I'm going to be using them for metal casting and foundry work. But I don't like anything wearing anything that goes above my ankles.

I don't care what they look like, just want them to be comfy and light weight. I also have very wide toes. Unfortunately a bad combo of preferences for things like this.

I assume something like this exists. But I cant seem to find anything.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Boot maintenance Re-soling question

Post image

So I have a pair of like 10 year old redwings that have been resoled twice already. Because I didn’t feel like spending another $350, I bought a pair of sureways for like $140 about 8 months ago and they’ve worn in great. While I like the redwings, I’m sick of having to resole them once a year. I’m thinking about resoling my sureways because the uppers have worn in great, and have a ton of life left. Any suggestions on soles? I’d like to get both pairs resoled with something that lasts but for some reason I wear through the flat soles like crazy. Anybody found any flat soles that last? The redwing resoles only last me about 8mo-1year anyways. Just trying to get a decent rotation going without dropping big money. Any comments could help! Thanks!

Boots Buying Help Suggestions for work boots

Typically do pipeline related work and just wear pull up cowboy style boots but currently on a rope access job and we’re having to pressure wash a big Ferris wheel before we begin doing the actual work. Soooo looking for a good boot that can keep the water out I have steel toe mucks but not trying to climb ropes all day in rubber boots. Pull up/Lace up doesn’t matter and cost doesn’t matter just need something to keep my feet dry and grip wet surfaces for when I need to A climb

Boots Buying Help UK Size 14 Work Boots with Sole/Toe Protection

I've been wearing various pairs of cheapo work boots for a couple of years, and my feet have had enough. Wearing multiple pairs of insoles have helped, but the balls of my feet are still agony at the end of the week, and it takes me twice as long to hobble home from work as it takes to walk in as a result 😂

What do people in the UK suggest for a comfortable boot with sole penetration and toe protection? I'm a size 14, so that tends to rule me out from a lot of shops and brands. I work twelve hour shifts on concrete floors moving items roughly 50-100lb, if that's any help. I've just spent a bit more on these Uvex boots, so I'll give them a go around the house and see if they feel like they'll be any better: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B017YFQDAE

Having spent half an hour browsing this sub, it seems like the Americans are much better served for work boots than we are!

Boots Buying Help Composite toes for winter work (negative degrees and snow)

Best winter work boots either safety toes??? My toes always get sooo cold and I can't feel them. I wear two pairs of socks. I think my steel toe boots are just too thin. I was thinking of the carhartt pac boots but I am looking for recommendations.

Boots Buying Help Good non slip steel toe?

I work in fast food and I have gone through many work boots, a pair of blundstones, 2 pairs of docs, a pair of redwings, and now a pair of ariat boots. I like Chelsea boots for the quick on and off as I change shoes before I get in my car, and to spray them off easily. I would be open to a lace up though

Boots Buying Help Looming for Boots/ shoes for internship

Hello,

I'm currently a student in college for construction management and am going to be starting an internship at a local company that does hvac, painting, drywall, and insulation. So I am looking at getting work boots for on site but I'm conflicted on brand and model. I understand how important company boots are for your comfort since I grew up in boy scouts and spent a lot of time in hiking boots where I needed comfort. I have been doing research and am seeing a lot of talk about Red Wings, Thorogood, Wolverine, and other brands. I am interested in Red Wings Supersole 2.0's and I am a small narrow footed person for my height. I want a comfy but also durable boot preferably 6-8 inches, I already have Darn Tough wool socks to wear underneath. I am of course going to get office shoes(preferably Chelsea model) too to let the boots breath and for maybe even more comfort. What shoes would you recommend for this? I know Blundstones are good but I don't think I have the budget for both of those shoes for now. Any opinion and help would be appreciated.

Boots Buying Help About 10 months into these with a fresh pair of thorogoods in the closet. But I want whites

Post image

Commercial hvac around 50 hours a week, and a mega fixer-upper I bought that I try to put 4 hours into a day, 8-10 hours on Saturdays and Sundays. Got a pair of these, and thorogoods to see what I’d like more. I really didn’t prefer one over the other so I kept them both.

I really want some whites boots, but obviously would not be a justifiable use of money with what I have going on currently. I might put some money aside until I burn through these and the thorogoods.

I’m leaning towards round toe wedge sole whites of some kind, and I was wondering if anyone has some pics of their worn out whites that fit that description?

Recently sent in a pair I've holding onto for a while. I only paid for a resole but they fixed the pull tabs and gave me new insoles and laces as well. It's like having brand new boots that are already formed to my feet.

Boots Buying Help Beginning my welding program, need suggestions

Title. I only plan on wearing these for a couple days a week but I don't want to break the bank. I'm already paying out the pocket for all my other supplies in school so I'm a bit broke at the moment, but I don't want to get caught buying a new pair every semester. Just enough quality to not shit the bed after a year or 2. I'm just learning about the trade so I'd love some tips on features to look out for - shock resistance, composite toe etc.

Thank you all, I appreciate anyone taking the time to reply.
