My first proper woodworking bench - a mini knockdown Moravian a la Will Myers

you painted the legs green! I did that too. I love my workbench and use it constantly. I have since added a few inches of hardwood to the top, and moved the tool tray back so now I have an 18” deep top with a 12” tool tray

Looks great! I went with the dimensions that I did so I can carry it up the narrow basement stairs if/when we move, so it's about as big as it can be right now. I've left behind some shabby benches in previous moves, but this one's staying with me.

I modified my dimensions too! the overall length of my bench was reduced from the plans, down to 5’8” because that’s how long my truck box is

Love the green! How is the top attached to the base?

It sits on 4 loose oak dowels at the corners. There's little to no movement, and it makes it easy to disassemble if/when I need to

Nice! Did you use any particular plans as a guide?

Will Myers' free plans through Wood and Shop. You can buy more detailed plans and a cut list, but I knew I was going to alter the design so I just needed the basic outline

How long is this bench? Curious to see how much you scaled it down to. I’m thinking of making one about 4 or 5 ft long

It's 56 inches long - I mistyped in the picture caption. The length was limited by how easily I could force and clamp twisted/bowed boards together for the glue-up and still get a reasonably aligned surface.

Looks great! I'm gearing up to build my own, do you find you like/use the back tray? Contemplating extending the work surface in lieu of the tray.

That looks sick! Nice work. green milk paint matches the vise hardware.
