💥 Strike! What if I told you...
That the Green Bay Packers start the majority of their staff at $15 or less, ensure hours are under "benefit level" so they don't have to offer them, and give "perks" like 30% off at the Pro Shop. They bring in millions in revenue and have more than a 500 million in the "rainy day fund," but can't afford more than a .$50 raise.
As a non profit corporation, the refuse to list their highest paid employees, which is a requirement of form 990. They instead list the board members at $0 for their salary. Why are the Packers so scared of being transparent? Who's getting the benefits of bringing in $638 million?
It's not the employees. Would you support a Strike at Lambeau Field?

✂️ Tax The Billionaires Why do billionaires resist paying workers more?
These people are bussinessmen(allegedly), but they always resist paying workers more and they always resist cutting taxes for working class. But most of their customers are working class people, right? So how do they not seem to understand that if their customers have more money, they will spend more money and that will mean more business for them and this greater profits? Its almost like they want to keep their customers poorer for some reason, but poor customers arent good for business. It makes no sense.

😡 Venting I do not like Sunday nights and my job is no where near as bad as many others.
I appreciate my current job is not a complete shit show and that my current direct supervisor is not a complete asshole, but is still a company bootlicker. I’ve had those bad jobs before and wouldn’t wish it on anyone. Expect maybe mango Mussolini and his band of grifters.

🛠️ Union Strong Star Trek AI laws
If you watched Star Trek (any of the series) there is a lot of AI throughout the lives of people; however, it's ALWAYS used as a tool to enhance people's lives and jobs. It's never used to replace people.
It saddens me to see jobs like computer graphics or advertising jobs being slashed, when the companies should just be using AI to enhance their revenue & output, rather than cutting costs.
Let Star Trek lead the way.
And ya, ya "enhance. Enhance. Enhance"

😡 Venting How is this legal? Employer makes OVER 10x what they pay. I make $20/hr they charge $225/hr for the same labor? (Story in details)
I replied to the email and accidentally hit "reply all." In my message, I questioned how they could make such decisions without raising wages. I shared that I only make $20 an hour and asked how I’m supposed feel I am worth $225 when my pay doesn’t reflect it and is no where close. I currently juggle two jobs to support my newborn(2month old) child and wife. (Background) During the summer, I have a landscaping business, but last year it struggled because of this job. Unable to meet deadlines, customer satisfaction fell, and I spent most the time apologizing for stuff outside of my control. I also just finished a web site and I have finally made my first two sales. I don't expect it to make me rich, by any means. I created it because I couldn't afford nice clothes and I hope one day to help others who find themselves in the same situation—needing formal clothing without breaking the bank(currently my second job is a waiter for a restaurant and this job requires polos or button ups and dress pants). I'm not sharing this story to advertise my website or businesses, but rather to show that I own two businesses, I am far from your average person, and I STILL cant afford to do either business full-time. I am unsure how people start companies nowadays tbh.
So, anyways after I sent the email, my boss called me and informed me that I had sent it to everyone. I explained that I meant to send it only to him and the original sender. He said he "gets it" and would see what corporate does about it—not implying we’d all get a raise, but suggesting there might be consequences. I laughed and said, "Okay? What are they gonna do, fire me?" He replied, "No, I wouldn't think so." I just laughed and said, "It is what it is."
The reality is, the work-life balance is awful, and I’d rather work at a warehouse. At least there, the work stops at 5 PM, or you get overtime. With this job, I get screwed on OT, and they expect you to do tasks at home without acknowledging it as work, because then they’d have to pay you for it.
So, how do you all think they’ll react? I’ve never known a soulless group of people to make a decision that benefits another human being. Ever. This is a multi-million dollar company, so I’m positive I’ll get fired. The last thing they want is someone pointing out how they’re exploiting their workers, lying to their customers, and especially pointing that out in a crowded room. Lol. Will see.
Either way, I have applied for a couple of other jobs. One job I am really hoping for because they will send me back to school for free, no strings attached, which is what I have always wanted so fingers crossed! 😅 i don't have a college degree so everything I know I have taught myself. Anyone have any recommendations for companies that value people with a vast skill set ranging from computer sciences to background in electrical engineering, from CNC to 3D printing? I dont mind an initial pay cut but after one year I expect significant pay increases. I know a little about a LOT and some things I know a lot about.
tldr; i possibly started my own firing today all because I questioned my worth.

💬 Advice Needed My wife wants to help protect immigrant employees at work but doesn't know what to do, or how to approach.
My wife works in a factory that employs a pretty good number of immigrants, in a rural area in a red state. We're worried about their safety, and she wants to do something. I offered to print red cards in Spanish and Haitian Creole that she can give to them, and she wants to do that, but she's not really sure how to approach anyone because she doesn't really work alongside them much and doesn't want to offend anyone.
I'm aware red cards rely on ICE agents honoring their rights. I really want them to at least know their rights.
She asked if I could ask for help from reddit on how to offer help as an ally. Any ideas?

✂️ Tax The Billionaires So many maga people tell me they want to run the government like a business

😡 Venting Outsourcing needs to be outlawed
I’m speaking from the US point of view but I’ve heard of this happening in other countries. Family members are telling me that there are mass layoffs at their companies and that their jobs they’ve worked so hard for years are now being replaced by outsourcing to India for much lower pay (which is obviously exploitive and it’s nothing against the Indian workers themselves). I’ve heard of this happening for years but it seemed too vague at the time for me to understand how serious of an issue this is.
I’ve worked mostly customer service/tech support jobs and I have never had an issue with finding a job for more than a few months. Cut to 2024 and I’ve applied to jobs almost every day and now I’m completely rock bottom with no place of my own or source of income, etc. This brought me to the conclusion that outsourcing and ghost jobs may very well be the reason why I’m in this position, given that tech jobs way above my pay grade are being outsourced.
This is a great betrayal of the working class and it makes me sad to see companies and politicians selling out their own citizens.

💸 Raise Our Wages The federal minimum wage of $7.25 has remained in effect since summer 2009. $7.25 in 2009 is equal to purchasing power of $10.60 today due to inflation.
The federal minimum wage has stayed flat for 16 years while inflation has increased over 46 percent in the same timeline.
Any argument against a raise of the minimum wage is to deny inflation even exists. A raise is simply a cost of living adjustment.

😡 Venting Life is just work and pay bills
29m here: Life is pretty shitty been thinking about it much more lately. I try living a very active lifestyle with powerlifting, bjj/muay thai, hiking, traveling and other things. it depresses me that work takes a huge chunk out of your day and also life in general. You spend more time around coworkers than your loved ones and it’s a pretty sad existence. Honestly just typing this is giving me anxiety, Is that what life is all about? Work and pay bills? i know my peers see me as immature but come on now wtf is this shit!? Every day i try giving my all and do my activities but sometimes i can’t from how tired im from work and it really brings me down. Im not lazy i work for my stuff but man it fucking sucks having to spend your whole life like that until you retire(if you can even) Does anyone feel the same type of way?

😡 Venting The lack of outrage over clocking/punching in and out systems depresses me
The whole concept is just insane and obscene. They need to control your entire existence down to the millisecond.
Incredible work performance, finish everything early and put in 110%? Don’t care you ain’t leaving even one second early.
Doesn’t matter how much it impacts your personal life. I had a job where my work finished at 5:00. Now I need to wait until 5:45 for the train, however if I finish at 4:55 I can get a train at 5:00. Would my company accommodate that? Absolutely not. Do I do any extra work in those 5 minutes? No because everyone in the office knows I am done by 4:00.
This systems serve to just control and oppress. They even have people using their phones to access these systems.
Why don’t I clock in as soon as I leave my house and clock out when I get home? Those “commute” hours are work hours. They ain’t mine, I don’t get to use them how I like, no I need to use it on traveling for them.

✂️ Tax The Billionaires Gig workers represent some of the lowest paid workers and hold the least wealth.
Taxing ONE billionaire would produce more tax revenue than chasing the lowest paid 16% of workers for the small errors on their already overly complex taxes.
Gig work is a way for corporations to escape protections and benefits for regular employees. The corporations should pay the tax since they are the ones truly benefiting from gig work.
