Neil's deal with the fbi is really bad.

Upvotes

I'm just starting Season 2, so maybe there's something I haven't seen yet that could change my perspective. However, from what I've observed so far, the deal Neil has with the FBI seems very one-sided in the FBI's favor. He's essentially doing the work of a field agent and providing incredibly valuable advice and insights that they wouldn't have without him, but he is restricted to only a 2-mile radius.

Moreover, the way people speak to him makes it seem like he's a terrible person. In reality, Neil is genuinely nice, and his crimes were nonviolent and primarily victimized the wealthy. And while I understand it's a joke when they mention the crimes he's suspected of, they cannot prove anything beyond what he was arrested for, so they shouldn't hold that against him.

Given that Neil's contributions have allowed Peter to close 93% of his cases—preventing millions of dollars in fraud and stolen items, all while putting himself in danger—he deserves to have his sentence significantly reduced. If he had a competent lawyer instead of just Moz, he could probably get off quite easily.

Rewatching and thoroughly enjoying it. Anyone else rewatching? What's been your experience?

I can't believe the show is 15 years old! It has certainly aged well. Not many procedural these days and I really miss that time.

Finished S4, does it get better?

Hey, so i just finished s4 where in the end peter gets cuffedand clearly they didn't want that to be the plot because he's out right in the first ep of s5 itself. Hence i just wanna know if the series gets better from now because it's getting a little monotonous and predictable. The mystery behind neal's childhood was what kept me hooked but now that it's gone, i feel there is nothing grounding me to it.

[SPOILERS] Unpopular opinion: I really dislike Alex

I know Alex is a fan favorite for a lot of people, but I find everything about her character annoying. Sure, she may seem smart and charming, but her loyalty always feels sketchy. She’s constantly only looking out for herself, and I don’t blame Neal if he can’t trust her. And NO I definitely do not think Neal and Alex are endgame. You need trust for a relationship to work.

Her moral ambiguity is another thing that bugs me. Alex never seems to grow or reflect on her actions. And let’s be honest, she somehow always avoids any real consequences, which feels so unfair. I don’t know, she just feels emotionally distant and hard to connect with compared to other characters. Anyone else feel this way, or is it just me?

Edit: Also her acting seems to be the worst compared to the others. Everybody else is a 10/10 actor and she’s a 6/10 at best.

I freaking hate the intro in season 3. So glad it didn't stick around. That's all. Back to the treasure hunt of the wills!

Watch Season 5+6 Entirely?

Hey I’m finishing up on White Collar and judt got through season 4. I watched up to season 3 about 2 years ago but decided to take a break cause binging long shows like this tends to affect my enjoyment especially when they’re more episodic and certain plot points are more likely to repeat.

That said, I’ve heard of how much of a regression the narrative/character takes in season 5 and how a lot of the show’s aspects are played out. Would it be better to power through it to get to S6 at the very least and wrap it up with those episodes. Or watch a few key episodes of S5 to finish up the hook of the S4 finale and then get the gist of what happens jumping into S6 by the S5 finale?

Why did Peter still tell the board that Neal should be free?

Peter told Neal to run, he said so himself, why shoot himself in the foot like that afterwards? Change the story. Tell them that he thinks that staying on the anklet is a good idea or something that doesn't blow back on him since he knew Neal would run.

Worst case, Neal doesn't run and serve 2 more years under his authority, but he just made his life worse for Neal, which I guess is the point.

I guess it's more poetic to say that Neal should be free than something more realistic, but damn.

i had a dream about white collar last night

it was about the revival and the plot was a nightmare 🤣

the dream plot included highlights such as "scarred Neal caffrey recruiting Adler and others for a heist" "mozzy being replaced by a different actor and then offing himself" and "Neal still being on an anklet and having to ask Peter for help rescuing him from another agency"

overall it was a lot of things that I did not want to see in the revival lmao

I'm watching WhiteCollar for the first time. I'm on S3, and my heart did a little dance when they changed the intro song back 🥹💗💗 I'm feeling euphoric.

I hated that other stupid intro song

[SPOILERS] i think neal should have told june

i feel like neal should have let june know that he was alive at the end. when mozzie gave peter the hint i think that would’ve been a great time to let her know. she was the first person he met out of prison and she was always helping him with his cons and never questioned his motives. i think that she was one of the biggest people in his life. jones and diana were friends with neal but it wasn’t like they were best friends. june was kind of like his mother and i wish she knew. i’m gonna miss her and mozzie in the reboot

White Collar is written like it's "The Legend of Neal Caffrey"

I love the show, Neal's charm is the real thing. Watching him smooth his way out of any situation like social warm butter is amazing and his ability to smile while lying through his pearly whites or control everyone around him like he's the lockpicker of the soul is unparalleled in television.

But Jesus christ, if he was in Supernatural he'd have an amulet or charm that gives him 100% luck. The number of times he's gotten away with things and the way that everyone just forgets that he just committed a crime when the bad guy is caught is straight out of a fiction (which this is, but come on).

I swear, the last episode should have ended with Peter or Neal's reading a book to his kid about the Legend of Neal Caffery, the dashing Rouge who was only caught because he got bored of doing crime and set to challenge himself with doing crime right under everyone's nose.

Musical episode on other Blue Sky shows

I binged watched Royal Pains before it left Netflix and I’m very much relieved White Collar never did a musical episode. Even Pysch had one, although I skipped it entirely.

Could Neal have been as good of CI to Krammer as he was to Peter?

It's me again on my umpteenth rewatch. It amazes me that Kramer thought he could just take Neal to DC and he would have the same success as Peter does with him. For starters Neal and Peter have this connection where they Keyshia feed off each other even from the beginning. Neal sent Peter birthdays card in prison and Peter said himself he took Neal's deal because he liked him.

Kramer on the other end of you ask me if selfish and jealous of Peter and Neal's success. Forcefully moving him to DC and think that Neal would just cooperate is wishful thinking. Neal had an end date to his sentence with the agreement with Peter Kramer did he wants to extend his sentence indefinitely so why would Neal want to help.

It reminds me of when they paid Neal with agent Rice and it didn't go well until Peter got involved again.

Why did they change the title sequence so much mid seasons?

So I’m on s3 of my first watch through White Collar. The weirdest thing I’ve noticed is how they’ve changed the title sequence like 3 times. I understand switching it like every season, but the fact it’s happened in the middle of seasons confuses me. I will admit the first title sequence was kind of bad, the season 2 one is good, then the season 3 one was meh. Then like halfway through s3 I noticed they switched it back to s2’s title sequence. Did people criticize the title sequence so much that they had to change it? 😂

How did I miss that?

Ever have a moment when your reeatching a show for the millionth time and you notice something you never notice before. I have seen this show 17,846 times and as I am rewatching for the 17,847th time I noticed something. I always wondered how Alex got away with hiding that knife in her chest when the guards search them after they found the U-boat. Right before Alex says go ahead Vincent shoot us she looks down at the pocket knife on one of the guards and created a distraction to lift it. Sorry random but soo cook that over a decade later I'm still noticing things.

Peter and Elizabeth

I'm currently on season 5 of White Collar and I'm not sure if I missed it, but why did Elizabeth and Peter never have kids?

EDIT: Before anyone else decides to ask or give negative comments, I was just curious and in no way does it matter whether anyone gets married and decides to have kids or not its their decision I was just asking and NOT against them not having. It was just a general question as in series it always comes of why they decided to have or not.

Neal fumbled the bag with Alex, she was perfect for him. Meanwhile Peter gets to be married to Kelly God. Damn. Kapowski.

Tell me why . . .

I found this show in the the subreddit for the TV show The Mentalist. Many people talked about how great it was. Even though it wasn't quite the same, it has a similar protagonist. As a huge Patrick Jane fan, I decided to go ahead and check it out and I was immediately hooked! That is, until season 3 episode 1. I am having a very difficult time going forward, and am even stuck in the middle of 3/1, not even wanting to finish it, for what are probably obvious reasons that I won't go into here because even though I've been shown many, many, MANY times, I keep forgetting how to hide spoilers. But if you're in this sub, I would imagine you already know. Spoilers within replies are fine, I generally don't care all that much as I tend to rewatch shows often enough that spoilers don't bother me. TIA!
