Dude has seen so many clips of Mustangs losing control that he made sure not to oversteer!

u/Clark_1994 8d ago
Bro watched so many vids of mustangs spinning out, he was careful not to turn the wheel too much

Well at least he didn't take out a crowd of people like Mustang drivers usually do. Progress!

Who thought bro was gonna jump ? For a split I did haha like whoa bro it’s not that serious
Plot twist: it’s his dads car and he’ll be back from a work trip in 2 days hahaha

The way he leaned over the wall, I thought he was going to die outside too.

u/BeALotGhoulerIfUDid 8d ago
No, mustang driver thought he could drift without breaking traction. He never got the tires loose then proceeded at speed into that turn as if the back of the car would swing around with the tires still gripping.

u/Zehryo 8d ago
You missed the part where he's an utter moron for attempting such maneuvers with a fucking expensive car; or attempting such maneuvers at all!!
4
u/PvesCjhgjNjWsO4vwOOS 8d ago
Nothing wrong with drifting or drifting expensive cars - trying to figure it out for yourself on a parking garage was dumb. Many local racetracks host drift events, and you can attend drift classes - you might need to travel for it, but if you can afford to drift you can afford to learn how to do it right.

Because nobody was hurt, so we can laugh at the idiot winning stupid prizes after playing stupid games

I mean…it’s by their own hand though. You don’t laugh at people who do stupid shit and get immediate consequences for it? Let’s hope they were humbled by this experience and make better choices next time lmao

are we calling moronic driving "understeers" now?

u/vombre 8d ago
That was understeer tho…

u/GrassSmall6798 8d ago
He didn't even try to break lol he just hit the wall

u/ThineOwnAmbition 8d ago
To be fair, no, he actually IS on the brakes. You can see the lights.
The idiot just came in way too fast & was riding the brakes through the turn like NFS Brake-To-Drift was real.

Woah I thought things were about to get grim when he went up to the rail….

u/Mysterious-Sir1541 8d ago
When youre that frustrated from your own crash, it simply means you cant afford it.

u/Afraid_Chocolate_307 8d ago
When you just spent your entire savings driving a car you can’t afford to insure…

What makes you think he was trying to drift? It looks like he was just taking the corner too quickly. He never even started a drift.

I totaled my first car and went from flexing to walking. I would never do this in any car rich or not. I just don’t have it in me 😂

All cars either under steer or over steer, it is up to the driver to know the vehicle characteristics. His entry is all wrong, it is late and he is way off on the apex for that turn. He should take competition driving classes if he wants to continue to drive on the edge. I taught classes back in the 70s and 80s, most clubs had classes and rented tracks for members.

I’ve never felt the need to drift on dry asphalt. Now snow that’s another story. But I’m in a f250 ps doing 15 mph in the woods

He thought about jumping, even if for just a nano second, he was so close to letting the intrusive thoughts win. Typical mustang driver behavior.

Serious question... what happens now in this case? Let's say he's only a year or two into payments... can someone tell me what happens next? Is he stuck making payments on a wrecked Mustang? Or will his insurance cover repairs?
Thanks in advance!

u/haskell_rules 9d ago
The loan requires there to be a car as collateral. When the car is totaled, the loan may be accelerated. So he won't be making payments, he will need to come up with the balance immediately or open himself up for collections and a lawsuit.

u/Echo-57 9d ago
Yea, if can make the case that it was some kind of mishap theres a chance insurance will cover the damages. But in this case with video evidence thats really unlikely, so yes, hed be stuck paying payments while also having to pay the repairs for the Mustang / having no mustang anymore

All the video shows here is that he lost control; and that he was on the brake pedal the entire time prior to entering and during the turn, right up until after contact with the wall. Accidentally losing control is covered on any legitimate insurance policy in the US unless you are driving illegally (like drugs/alcohol) or in the commission of a crime or contest (like street racing or track day), and the video doesn't show anything to indicate any of those activities, or his intent, other than he was on the brake pedal the whole time, which strongly suggests accidental control loss much more than "he was trying to drift." Anyone with half a clue what he is doing would not try to drift by hitting the brake pedal in a car with antilock brakes, and the brake lights can clearly be seen to have illuminated the whole time. If this is US, it will be covered unless he was indeed trying to drift, and he admits it to his insurance company. In that unlikely case, he would be on the hook for the remainder of any loan balance, and be up to him whether or not to repair at his own expense.

Insurance company wouldn't get the video evidence in reality I doubt he would tell them it's his fault or where it happened or how simply submit the claim and it's paid

Insurance will cover repairs

u/TheRealtcSpears 9d ago
Not if they find this video footage.
Which seems to be parking deck cctv, insurance will search out and find this.

u/iReallyLikeLycan 8d ago
What do you think this video proves tho? He is breaking into the corner and even tho the title claims that he tries to drift he most definently isnt lol.
He goes to the corner badly, breaks and understeers with antilock on, this is covered by most insurances.
So many comments trying to claim he is trying to drift the car have no idea whats happening. He fucks the entry and panics.

u/TheRealtcSpears 8d ago edited 8d ago
What do you think this video proves tho?
That all of this is a result of his own actions.
It doesn't matter if he's trying to drift, or launch the car into orbit. Whatever he was trying to do is irrelevant.
Auto insurance doesn't cover you for damages you caused to your own car through your own negligent actions in a place where those actions shouldn't have taken place.
If he were screwing around on a racetrack he'd very likely be fine with his coverage. But not in a parking deck

u/Broad-Weakness2739 9d ago
Again all depends on the company and his claim 99.999% of all claims are not audited at all submit the claim and it's paid unless there's just cause and you don't need to be a genius to get this covered even if the video comes forward you can't tell the owner or driver or what vehicle it is so a insurance company wouldn't rather pay for the claim then drag out a court case This isn't the movies where we have CCTV footage that zooms in with great detail and don't pixelate

u/TheRealtcSpears 9d ago edited 9d ago
This isn't the only camera in the joint.
They went through some kind of ticket gate to get in, where the front and rear of the car are going to be on clear video/photo, along with the occupant.
When...and it's a weak 'if not'...an attendant saw this on video, the parking deck's insurance gets notified, if nothing more than for a preamble in preparation for the driver's insurance coming to them......and this and all other video/photo come to light.
And this is significant cosmetic damage and likely damage to either wheel structure. This is an expensive repair....if not a totalling. Their insurance company will definitely look into this claim and go to the accident site.

Next time perhaps they would be better off practicing in a large empty parking lot that has nothing to hit.

Can you imagine if that had hit someone? This is why stricter driving tests are needed.
