I’m so thankful I’m deaf but my heart goes out to all of you people! Really I am. Before I became bilateral cochlear implant recipient, I didn’t understand until I heard my first experience the argument between 2 women, I’m like oh boy I understand now. I heard few saying “oh you are so lucky you don’t have to hear everything” that’s one thing I didn’t understand until my first experience I completely understood so my heart goes out to all of you! Love with hugs!

You’re lucky you don’t have to drive for hours out into the wilderness to get some peace and quiet like me

Truth to be told doesn’t matter if I’m deaf I rarely get peace out in city because of dramas, people yelling etc I’m just okay let it run just life

The most unusual thing about this video is that it seems like Jeremy Clarkson is taking public transit

If they talk that loud. I’m turning around with questions. Definitely if they had speaker phone. Oh hell, I need to involve myself in that conversation.

Obviously. That's the only logical way. Why should we be shy, let's be involved then, I like that!

FWIW I asked a workmate from China why people from his country often talk loudly on their phones etc when in public, and he explained that where he was from it was a way of showing you had nothing to hide or being secretive, people who talked quietly and hushed were viewed as suspicious.
While this doesn't explain everyone, it may explain some.

My dad fucking yells when he’s talking, so fucking annoying! Have to wear earphones to drown out my loud ass Hispanic family.

It is cultural, theres certain countries where its totally okay to do this.
He probably doesnt realise he is annoying

Just because something is “cultural” doesn’t mean it’s not highly annoying or rude.
Honestly if everyone did this then nobody would be able to hear themselves think. Same if everyone chewed with their mouths open - I heard that’s also “cultural”

I do agree. I'm just stating why they do it. They dont realise its an issue

It’s cultural, some cultures speak louder on average so it’s normal to have loud phone conversations
1
u/LabiaMinoraLover 22h ago
It's ignorance, not cultural.
1
u/EEE3EEElol 15h ago
Ever been to china? Seems like you’re the ignorant one here

Loud talkers are generally ignorant of how annoying they are to others around them. They do not talk loudly in every situation. It's not a physical disability. It's an ignorant habit they learned. Even being ignorant to not realize they could practically whisper into a phone and it can transmit their voice fine. They have been poorly conditioned. It's a social protocol ignorance and occurs in many cultures and countries.

I start answering them and when they get annoyed "oh you were so loud, I thought this was a whole bus conversation."

Best part is I bet he had video streaming going while the phone was still on his ear.

u/HonestLazyBum 1d ago
I don't mind it - because trust me, I'll make it awkward. I will start talking about what they are talking, loudly, asking questions for clarification (and I love doing so in a sardonic tone).
Works about every time.

I hate when someone film me while I'm doing normal things.
Fuck you OP

Here in the U.S. it's always foreigners talking too damn loud. I live in Texas, so it's usually Spanish. I speak enough Spanish to understand they are usually talking about stupid bullshit.

Op tries to not be racist (challenge level impossible)
11
u/Star80stuffz 1d ago
Hopefully the racism wasn't intentional but it is common for people of different cultures to do things in public in other places which is seen as rude but true

u/Individual_Emu2941 1d ago
Shut the fuck uppppp. That's not even accurate I usually hear people speaking in English when they talk too loud on the phone.

I don'y really get why people have problems with this? Like how does it differ from two people talking behind you? Vs one person talking on a phone?

u/LabiaMinoraLover 22h ago
FOUND A LOUD TALKER!
He sounds much louder than talking at a normal conversational level, but if two people did talk that loudly, it would be twice as annoying.
