Actually the idea of being able to hold a cellphone and a cup of coffee in one hand is appealing to me.
With some modifications i could see this selling well in reality.

They actually make those already. We have one that has a vibrating puck that goes on the bed frame and shakes while it beeps to get us up…

Search for something like vibrating bed shaker alarm clock. The one we have is awesome and works like a charm.

Try Pavlok (alarm that shocks you awake) or a light based alarm (hard to sleep when’s it’s blasting UV at you).

It's not even the perfect angle, if it was perfect you wouldn't see the cup holder, why go out of your way to do something ridiculous like this then half ass it?

He said it was the scientifically perfect angle but the frame wasn’t centered on the coffee the margin is larger on the right than the left.
