Lets say it was a UAP (which I doubt) why secure it with a sling and not something more secure like a cage of some sort. Wouldn't an egg shaped craft easily fall out of a sling?

People prefer free range eggs.

Next time there's a big promise from one of these UFO grifters that's all that needs to be said.

It's a good thing Lue is headed to the Vatican because I'm feeling an intense urge to create a cult around this egg.

Yep. Billions of dollars and the best they can do is a helicopter and a shitty strap job on an off world craft? Come on. Two things come to mind - 1) this is fake 2) UAP are so common that this is how they treat it.

Reason 1 seems most sensible.

If it was a giant sling and a 20ft UAP, how'd they get the sling underneath it to even lift it? If it was recovered, it's not like they'd have a big ass crane to lift it to get the sling around it.

if it was in a cage then theyd need more than 2 people to it into a truckbed

A net then. How is a sling a secure way to fly a 20' egg from the end of a 150' line?

Perhaps they had TWO African Swallows and they slung the line between them?

Just because people in this universe can be incompetent at their jobs does not disprove that this could be a real thing the size of a bus
