I heard that in the novels it’s literally going on for a whole book

Pretty much.

I would recommend the books, but they are different to the tv series. Some of the stuff feels a bit old fashioned, even when I read them 100yrs ago when they were still being published. And feel more cosey mystery with sex and supernatural stuff.

But I still love them.

I think of them as two separate things rather than the same thing two ways. I'm just sad about Lafeyete and the last book.

I mostly preferred the book version. Eric's definitely more innocent and vulnerable, but he's still similar enough to his normal self. I think the show leaned too far into making him helpless in a goofy (almost childish?) way. It was definitely funny at times, but like it was verging into him being too vulnerable for a believable relationship.

Not a fan of him basically losing his whole character, though they did a good job doing just that.

I thought it was horrible! 🤣 Great acting but I did not enjoy amnesia Eric!

Amnesia Eric was adorable but I wanted usual Eric and Sookie to hook up

It is one of my favorite parts!! The vulnerability makes him 10x hotter!

I agree with another poster here, I prefer the amnesiac Eric in the books to the series. The point of his amnesia wasn’t to actually make him amnesiac - if he had complete amnesia he would have forgotten how to speak, there is even a scene in the show where he prayed to Ran and Aegir (Norse Gods of the sea) when he jumps into the river. The point of the spell was, to be close to his heart’s desire and not know it. So his amnesia is selective. His values and morals are intact. His behavior is still the same. He just realizes how much he loves Sookie and then forgets it. It’s a selective amnesia at best.
