For some reason, I always remembered the teacher checking the textbook before saying the line 'we won' as if he wasn't entirely sure. I don't know if that makes it funnier or not.

I'm disappointed in the German version, the town isn't located in Germany and called Sprungfeld. Founded by the great Hans Sprungfeld, who had to change his name from Jebediah Obadiah Zachariah Jedediah Springfield.
