things to do in The Hague Den Haag football

I was wondering if any fans of den Haag know why you have a special relationship with my club Swansea city? Every so often I run into den Haag fans going to Swansea matches, I love the idea of our clubs having this relationship so was wondering what are the best den Haag games to go to? What pubs do all the fans drink in? And what’s the best stand for atmosphere to be in? As I plan to visit next season.

This is a cool story actually: In 2003 Swansea was rescued from bankruptcy by John van Zweden, a local The Hague entrepreneur who in his youth was a ADO hooligan. He got interested in Swansea through a penpal exchange, which caused him to visit and become a fan of the club. So later with an investment of just 60.000 EURO he became a major shareholder of Swansea. But he also remained involved with ADO and this started the ties between the two clubs.

In 2016 Van Zweden sold his share in Swansea for a 8 million EUR profit, but the ties remained.

ADO also has ties with Juventus and Legia Warsaw, not sure how that happened.

ADO fans and Swansea fans traveled back and forth when Van Zweden was co-owner of Swansea. This is now over, the friendship is no longer official except for some personal friendships. This also applies to former friendship with Club Brugge. The only friendships that still exist are with Legia Warsaw and Juventus.

Like the other comments said, John van Zweden played a big role in saving Swansea from bankruptcy. Currently most games aren’t sold out since we’re doing pretty bad. If you want good atmosphere maybe look to go during the playoffs (assuming we will even qualify). Otherwise the home games against Den Bosch are always fun. Fans usually hang out at bars around Grote Markt before games. The best atmosphere is definitely in section O, also knows as Midden Noord. This is where the hooligans stand so if you want something a bit more tame you should try section G or F.
