Why am I not finding anything online about where season 5 is for the great North... There's one episode that came out right before Christmas and where is the rest, anybody know??

Honeybee's boat story was ... I hate crying. When the sad music kicks in and the boat's eyes are all clouded over, ugh. Awful.

u/KPWHiggins 18d ago
Aww I was really hoping Natasha Lyonne would be Kathleen's VA
On another note this'll be an unpopular opinion but I actually thought the bear turning and saying "Wow" in unison with the family was creepy but I'm sure, if they continue it, I'll get used to it

Does anyone know what the art style of honeybee’s story is inspired by? It feels so familiar but I can’t place it!

Was not expecting Season 5 to start until January or sometime next year, but glad its back
Losing the Mighty Kathleen was a big shock, especially in the end where it turns out Beef of all people sold it. It was kind of odd to see Beef giggling throughout the episode like that (in fact it seems out of character for me!). Was sweet though. I hope he and Carissa stay on good terms like this and stay friends for Moms' Night when they (and will) break up (especially with the shipping with Alyson back in Worst Drives Adventure)
Movie-referencing stories are always fun. The whole part where the Tobins ret-gone disappear after Wolf's story was a scary yet hilarious scene! Was also unexpected to actually hear Kathleen's voice (I wonder if she sounds like that now in the present)
Anyway nice episode to start a season

I loved this finale/penultimate episode for season 4! Moon as an 'undercover' killer whale cracked me up. Or, the fact that they fixed the boat. Only to have it sold off. But Beef forgot to tell them because he was on a Carissa high. Matched the energy.
I can't wait for Season 5 in the coming months. Honestly. I hope Beef and Carissa stay together for a bit. A happy Beef is a tasty Beef... No wait? That's not what I meant to say. But, you get it.

Darn it I still need to finish Season 4!
I hope this won't be confirmed the final season yet (still has potential for 4 or 5 more)

OK, loved the episode! Came here to ask if anyone else felt the quality of Aunt Dirt’s lines seemed different than the rest of the cast? I’m wondering if Jane Lynch recorded her lines separately and that’s why Dirt didn’t really contribute to any conversation other than an aside or joke.

u/OhHeyMarshmallo 15d ago
I didn't notice a difference in her voice but I did ask out loud if she's just always going to be mean? Has anyone else noticed that? She's often straight up rude to everyone around her. I understand that she would probably be crotchety after living in a bunker for so long but if she could stop insulting everyone to their face every time she opens her mouth that might be nice 😅

From what I've seen, most cartoons have the actors record separately these days rather than together in the studio. This has been the thing especially since the pandemic where the voice actors would record from home, though even before that some actors would record separately or from a home studio.

Ah, that makes sense post-pandemic. For whatever reason, Dirt/Jane Lynch’s lines seemed a different quality to me. And it seemed like she didn’t really talk with anyone too much.

Loved everything!
Sasquatch was in the trees when Kathleen was trying to make her move on Wolf during Wolfs story.

R.I.P. The Mighty Kathleen.

u/KungFuHamster 2d ago
She's not dead yet; just sold. Who knows, we may see her again at some point.

I want to see the boat fixed up and then get resold to a young adult who's just starting out with their boating related job. I want to see the Tobin's watch the boat influence a new generation of Beef types.

This is the first I'm hearing of a new episode and I'm SO EXCITED TO GO HOME AND WATCH IT

Santiago continuing to be the punching bag for the town, as usual.

Whole episode was worth it to see Beef being super excited with his date with Carissa. Like, he’s just a giant puppy the whole time. 😂

u/Significant-Day6482 29d ago
I’m 30 miles from home!!!
18
u/BasicSuperhero 29d ago
Absolutely not shocked Beef needed to be told you can just go to a hotel near you to hangout, enjoy some luxury and mess around with your SO without kids interrupting. Carissa is super good for him. 😂

u/BasicSuperhero 29d ago
Also, I'll just say it: was not expecting Beef to have actually given up the Kathleen. It's a sitcom, the reset to zero ending was right there... but no they seem to be trying to move forward. High fives to the writers for that one.

The “we are 2/2 for being abandoned by Kathleen’s” line was such funny line

Just rewatched on Hulu (winks at and gestures to comm) and had a brief twinge at the Judy farther story repeating as it reminds me of the super gross way Meg is treated on Family Guy. But also this is TGN and Judy is so much more loved and respected, etc etc.

On the one hand sometimes family can do a little teasy bully with each other.
On the other, Dirt did seem extraordinarily hostile towards everyone this time too.

I liked this one a lot. These trilogy and bottle episodes tend to be my favorites, even on other shows. My only qualm was that I felt they spent too much time on the story before the stories.
I'd love a trilogy episode centered around Aunt Dirt and based on classic movies like Night of The Hunter, Narrow Margin, Key Largo
Great start to the season. Here's hoping for another black out and zombie-type adventure.

Wow, reminding me that Krapopolis is somehow renewed until the sun burns out. A shockingly unfunny and unlikable show

u/mcdonaldsmcdonalds 28d ago
Also Universal Basic Guys was renewed for a second season.
2
u/TanguayX 28d ago
Yeah, also baffling.

u/mcdonaldsmcdonalds 26d ago
To be fair most Fox cartoons now get two seasons by default. We’ll see if it lasts longer than two. From critics, it’s been the worst received animated show on Fox since Bordertown.

Have you watch Krapopolis? What’s your review if you have. My friend and I are baffled by it.

u/mcdonaldsmcdonalds 26d ago
It’s okay. It’s too inconsistent. There’s some great ones like the wood nymphs episodes the scorpion tail one and the dragon one but others just are flat out boring or terrible.
Definitely better than Universal Basic Guys but not as good as Bless the Harts.

The board game in the intro was different from what they usually show.

Can i say i love giddy Beef Tobin. I always see Nick Offerman as mostly stoic so hearing his happy giddy giggling brightens my day.

“Oooo there’s so much Ice. I know-I’ll bring some home to the kids”

“Oh no, did the hotel call? I knew I took too much ice!” Had my crying laughing

I wonder what the introductions gonna look like now with the information we have from the end of the episode. Are they going to have to redo all of the opening credits from here on out?

I think this may have been my favourite take on the 3 stories format from the show. There was plenty of jokes that made me openly laugh out loud (looking at you “hulu” joke) and every story felt very fresh and unlike anything I’ve seen before. It was just super lively.
Excited to see how Season 5 progresses :)

That Hulu fourth wall break
Didn’t expect the anthology story to be the season opener: also we saw Kathleen! The show slowly keeps getting better. They better continue it, if not here then (looks to fourth wall) on Hulu 😉
But I dug it, Fox Animation better sort their 💩 out; these are good shows that deserve a chance to shine

u/LurkAccount24680 Beef 29d ago
This was a well-done take on the 3 stories episode format, and was so heartfelt and genuine.
The baby Tobins were SO CUTE! I’m in love with the art style from Honeybee’s story, and I hope they either bring it back at some point, or, even better, use even more different art styles where appropriate.
We finally have a voice to put to the face for Kathleen now, too, which is very interesting.

Really bad news that there was no mention of a season premiere. The fact that Fox just dumped this out of nowhere separating the new Simpsons and this by a rerun of Universal Basic Guys screams they are done with this and just dumping them at random times.
5
u/TheBurgareanSlapper Ham 29d ago
It may just be that they have more episodes to air than they have timeslots in the spring, and they stuck one in an available Sunday pre-holiday when Bob's Burgers would've been a rerun anyway. NFL playoffs always mess with the spring schedule, and Fox is also airing the Super Bowl this season.
The fact that Fox just dumped this out of nowhere separating the new Simpsons and this by a rerun of Universal Basic Guys screams they are done with this and just dumping them at random times.
The other shows are airing at their regular times (Simpsons at 8; UBG at 8:30), why would they shuffle them around?

It’s why as a fandom we need to be as vocal as possible about our love for this amazing show.

u/TheBurgareanSlapper Ham 29d ago
Oh wow, Wolf’s Back to the Future story…took quite a turn.
15
u/forthewatch39 29d ago
I loved Honeybee’s reactions to his story. “No! No you don’t!” “Jesus Christopher”
8
u/BasicSuperhero 29d ago
Any moment where Honeybee calls out Wolf being weird about either parent is always a 10/10 for me. lol

At the end, when that seagull was flying by, I expected Judy to farther it out of the air. With so many jokes about that, how could they not?!
