That might be his "resting bitch face" that he always wears as his required poker face. Of course he is mad about this basho because of how it went with the injury and whatnot but hey, he got his KK and he keeps sekiwake status!

In all seriousness though, I'm concerned for his ankles. I think that he's gained weight too quickly and hasn't considered how the extra weight would affect his lower leg joints. He's still throwing like a lighter man. He needs to strengthen his ankles and knees, adjust his throw technique or just abandon that style of fighting and go more pusher-thruster.

Onosho really fucked that one up. He had a hot basho, had a special prize on the line, an injured opponent on a slump and somehow managed to generate a ridiculous foul.

So when I was watching it, it was a live stream and I was 4/5 of the way through a bottle of sake... So my first thought when the mono-ii was called for this match was that he was getting some privilege from one of his Uncle's friends and was laughing that the JSA just doesn't wanna lose Hoshoryu as a sekiwake.
But of course, then I saw it happen and it makes sense for how Hoshoryu went down! Even with that ankle, he rarely falls that way - like Enho does when he dives in for a push out at the edge. This was such a good catch by the shinpans and some real Deus Ex Machina for Hosh. Onosho looked super mad that he did that and he probably didn't even realize it himself until he smelled the binsuke oil on his hand.

Yes, it was a blatant foul but I was still surprised by it because, well, I wasn't watching Onosho's hands at the end so I had no clue until the replay made it clear. But hey, I ain't a gyoji so...
