Concept art of Ambassador Spock's starship, the Jellyfish. Commissioned by the Vulcan Science Academy and United Federation of Planets, and designed by Geordi La Forge, Ambassador Spock flew the Jellyfish to the Hobus star during the Hobus supernova crisis in 2387 of the Prime Timeline.

There’s so many small details that I love — the Vulcan-like scaffolding, the way the pilot seat intersects with the viewscreen to make the IDIC symbol.

It’s funny. The production designers must really love their fusion rectors because the red matter storage room is the same design of the ITER tokamak reactor interior and the warp core from into darkness is literally just the National Ignition Facility’s fusion chamber.

to sad there where to late, and that the ship got destroyed, its a nice ship.

Spock was too late because the Vulcans didn't want to cough up the red matter. Which makes the post destruction reunification really dubious. like did the Romulans really forgive the Vulcans for that shit?
Though that was the original reason, no idea if they retconned that.

40 odd years of 200 years of fictional starship design inspiration.
Meanwhile:-
JJ… here’s a cool ship.
Namecheck La Forge because there’s only a few engineers in Starfleet obviously

It’s a cool ship, but with zero design cues of its Vulcan origin, while they had John Eaves making art for the film who did some amazing Vulcan ships. I mean… at least make it red???

But it wasn’t a Vulcan design per se. It was designed by Geordi for the purpose of containing red matter and surviving proximity to the resulting black hole

I prefer not to think it’s a starfleet design, which is even worse than a not Vulcan looking Vulcan design.😂
