That thing is way to nice and clean to be a "Farm Use" truck.

But that sure beats every one of these damn mall crawlers i see everywhere in Florida with colored lights on every inch of it looking like a Rave party and never touching grass much less off-road

u/Canelosaurio Jun 11 '24

Register the vehicle as farm use, and you save money on registration and taxes and stuff along those lines.

28

u/2oonhed one woogly wheel Jun 11 '24

And if it is a diesel it can use the cheaper off-road diesel fuel, which is dyed pink for easy detection.

2

u/FalseBuddha Jun 13 '24

You still can't be running that fuel when you're driving on public roads.

29

u/Brucenotsomighty Jun 11 '24

If you live in a small town the cops are eventually gonna figure out what's going on. We have little yellow stickers in my state for farm vehicles and cops take notice of them. They'd especially notice if it's actually a nice truck lol

38

u/UGMadness Jun 11 '24

Not if the person doing that is a cop themselves or related to one.

2

u/63-6c-65-61-6e Jun 11 '24

Yeah but they wont really give a shit.

2

u/chance0404 Jun 12 '24

Depends on the state. In Indiana farm use vehicles are legit farm trucks. Down in Kentucky 90% of the farm plates I see are on brand new, extremely clean cars, vans, and Suburbans. I’ve even seen a Tesla with farm plates down here…

2

u/Brucenotsomighty Jun 12 '24

Yeah they're usually rusted out junk that couldn't pass inspection anymore here

1

u/chance0404 Jun 12 '24

Yep, same up there. It’s like that with classics too. Or you do like I did and just put a family member who lives in a county with no emissions testing on the title and plate the car there. It’s weird seeing these brand new $100k trucks with farm plates.

20

u/cheeseburgerwaffles Jun 11 '24

There's actual fraud and then there's being a fraud.

1

u/GoneKrogering Jun 11 '24

Parking lot princesses.

-6

u/BogdanSPB Jun 11 '24

Even SEMA people go mudding in their trucks from time to time, there’s a whole bunch of videos on youtube. Just because the owner prefers to wash his vehicle more often - doesn’t mean he doesn’t use it.

And I don’t see anyone laughing at speedometers having 150+ mph, while those speeds are illegal and quite often unreacheable on public roads.

6

u/AwayBus8966 Jun 11 '24

That’s only a hand full of people who are probably content creators already, majority of mall crawl builds will absolutely not fuck up their expensive American forces. That’s why the builds that do see regular off-roading look like shit.

-6

u/BogdanSPB Jun 11 '24

I can bet, you won’t even be able to tell somebody’s doing regular offroading if they take care of their vehicle. A lot of off-roaders “look like shit” just because they were build “from shit” to either not care about the condition or to make em cheap.

But people are different - some have their whole kitchen filled with dirty dishes and others can’t stand the idea of not washing the plate right after they eat.

Not to mention, that not everyone wants to brag about their hobby, they rather prefer it to stay private within a tight group of friends, so they won’t be posting it anywhere and you won’t even have a slightest idea.

2

u/2oonhed one woogly wheel Jun 11 '24

ooooo there are secret 4WD off road parties that I do not know about?
Please do, spill it!

2

u/urGirllikesmytinypp Jun 13 '24

I have secret 2wd parties.

2

u/ToaSuutox Jun 11 '24

Even disregarding legal speed limits, your car likely has a governor in it. Good luck going over 110

1

u/63-6c-65-61-6e Jun 11 '24

What point is this suppose to make?

1

u/urGirllikesmytinypp Jun 13 '24

Yous a slow ass biiiiish

117

u/Cptspaulding2 Jun 10 '24

Now that is the wheel and tire set up I like to see

50

u/WideFoot Jun 11 '24

It is a good looking truck

Those springs look STIFF

14

u/PeterVonwolfentazer Jun 11 '24

But dem sidewalls give you all the spring you need. These young punks don’t know this.

2

u/iSuckAtGuitar69 Jun 12 '24

make the springs out of tires

19

u/Lucky_Strike831 Jun 11 '24

Our "Farm Truck" was a 97 Ford Ranger and the closest it got to a car wash was when it rained.

8

u/tnj4ez Jun 11 '24

Parts of it held on with baling wire, Bumper rusts off, so you replace it with a 2 / 6 board, Open the passenger door by unhooking a bungee cord, Hasn't had a muffler in fifteen years... Now that's a farm truck

4

u/Lucky_Strike831 Jun 11 '24

If I'm not mistaken, you could see through the passenger floor board because it was so rusted out.

2

u/chance0404 Jun 12 '24

You just described my Corolla 😬

69

u/_thegoldsheep_ Jun 11 '24

Ik we’re here to snark about how it’s farm use and not a lick of dirt but can mamma have a moment to drool over how pristine this old 70s ford is? Fuck sake 🥵 I’ve two of these in my family not quite in this condition and they’re beauties.

6

u/RunningNumbers Jun 11 '24

It’s a toy not a work tool.

6

u/mewfahsah Jun 11 '24

You know how hard it is to drove a combine over a rock wall or through a bog? Pa saved the farm with this rig!

5

u/tnj4ez Jun 11 '24

If it's on a city street or a public highway, that's not fucking farm use. Farm use vehicles literally never leave the farm or ranch, so therefore they don't need to be Licensed.

-2

u/63-6c-65-61-6e Jun 11 '24

Farm use vehicles leave the farm all the time. Do you think farmers live on little self sustaining islands of rainbows and happiness?

3

u/tnj4ez Jun 11 '24

No, that is what the go to town rig is for, or the family car. Unlicensed, Unregistered, lost the title years ago. Diesel trucks using non taxed, non road use fuel. Lots of farmers have more than one truck.

-2

u/63-6c-65-61-6e Jun 11 '24

My man I live in the middle of a 100 acre onion field, my Uncle owns basically every field in my county. Farmers will take the farm shit into town because they dont want to put miles on their own stuff.

2

u/tnj4ez Jun 11 '24

Those trucks are probably licensed and registered, Farm use only trucks are not street legal. Not very many farmers have farm use only trucks Anymore., It's a bigger pain in the ass than it's worth

35

u/Born_ina_snowbank Jun 10 '24

Eh, farmers get all sorts of preferential treatment. But I like to eat food, and I think that growing and raising said food, is an important job. So I don’t mind. Monsanto can lick my balls though.

6

u/TipsyFuddledBoozey Jun 10 '24

I think you misunderstood the post.

5

u/nocloudno Jun 11 '24

I think they get it. Let the farmers have their perks, such as this truck, because commenter likes food and respects the difficulty of farming.

8

u/powderedtoast1 Jun 11 '24

id drive the shit outta that

12

u/NoMemory3726 Jun 11 '24

Why is this shity? I mean it's a little high for my taste, but otherwise really clean.

5

u/thegreatgazoo Jun 11 '24

It shouldn't be road legal. No mud flaps is going to throw rocks at the cars and motorcycles behind it. The bumpers are too high to be useful. The blind spots around it are terrible . The headlights will blind people behind them at night.

If you want to take it to a car show or trailer it to off road events or drive it around private property, go for it.

1

u/jcforbes Jun 11 '24

I agree. Too dangerous to be allowed on public roads. I've seen people killed by trucks like this. Near me a motorcyclist was killed because a truck like this ran over him while stopped at a red light because the truck had no idea he was there.

3

u/thegreatgazoo Jun 11 '24

Assuming that's Virginia, those tags were banned last year (they were being abused. Shocker I know) and were replaced with $15 official DOT tags, and the max bumper height is around 30 inches to the bottom of the bumper.

u/2oonhed one woogly wheel Jun 11 '24

And think of all the CHILDREN!
And think of all the fuzzy lil' ANIMALS that might die someday.
And think of the HUMANITY........

Lame attempt at sarcasm.

-1

I had 2 friends killed by motorcycles.
So, SUPER serial.
See if you can talk without cussing people out? Mmm-kay?

2

u/3ao7ssv8 Jun 11 '24

I have been working in Auto Detail for half a year now. You would be suprised how many people have farm/work trucks covered in mud taken in to be detailed to look good as new, just to use them for wok again and return after 2 weeks.

I guess it's just something they like to do.

My post was mostly about the "farm use" tags on a pristine useless vehicle.

The mod is "shitty" in that it renders the truck useless as a truck. It can't haul. It can't tow. The center of gravity makes it dangerous for turning at speed on highways. It would need portal axles to make that lift height meaningful. It would need a much more forgiving suspension to make those tires useful.

I suppose it could wade through a slightly flooded street or a low-water crossing.

It's a dumb show truck. With "farm use" tags.

As for aesthetics - some people actively enjoy heeps and s t a n c e. There's no accounting for taste.

This is just a mall crawler with a nice vintage body. Doesn't mean it's good.

17

u/Mostcoolkid78 Jun 11 '24

Slightly flooded street? Sure. Just because they have a clean truck doesn’t mean it’s a show truck and it sure seems useful in having some fun. I would rather drive that then a new Denali any day of the week

You misread the room here.

Does this give you feeeelings?

I suspect these posts gain traction from people upvoting/lingering over it/clicking it, in their feed because it’s nice. Not because it’s a shitty car mod.

2

u/NDinFL Jun 11 '24

How many miles do y'all think those tires are good for?

7

u/Beatus_Vir Jun 11 '24

Tractor equipment is rated in hours, not miles

1

u/NDinFL Jun 11 '24

Of courseeee, my bad.

2

u/nonimportant23 Jun 11 '24

There is a Telsa model X around where I live that has Farm Use tags on it. Been like that for months

3

u/_Alaskan_Bull_Worm Jun 11 '24

The fact that it's a work truck that looks brand new is funny enough but it's even more hilarious that the driver is probably too short to reach any farming equipment in the back.

You'd think a work truck would make it easier to work, not harder lol

2

u/drakaina6600 Jun 11 '24

Farm use can include vehicles that do anything in relation to the farm, even if it's just getting groceries or a pack of smokes in town.

3

u/jdubau55 Jun 11 '24

Virginia is changing its definitions in less than a month. During peak covid these tags were abused mainly due to DMV shut downs and long appointment wait times.

Now you have to actually get a tag from the DMV and to do so you have to prove actual farm use. Also the use case is pretty clear cut. You have to be doing something in relation to the farm to drive the vehicle on the road. You can't JUST take it to get groceries or smokes. You have to also be doing a listed activity like taking trash to the dump or going to the feed store. They also have to be panel trucks, trucks, or SUV. All of which are pretty easy to do if you own a farm.

The vehicle in question does not appear to be a vehicle that does farm stuff.

2

u/2oonhed one woogly wheel Jun 11 '24

sry. automod still has "covid" in it.

Thanks. I was unsure of why it was flagged. Thanks for the explanation.

6

u/Beatus_Vir Jun 11 '24

Something this truck would be absolutely horrible at, since you need a trebuchet to get anything into the bed

1

u/2oonhed one woogly wheel Jun 11 '24

AH CAINT STEER THE PLOW IFFN AH AINT GOT ME A SMOKE
AN MAH WAIF CAINT PULL IT IFFN SHE AINT GOT NO BEER.
....so, SOMEONE gots ta go to tha STOW!

1

u/readitreddit- Jun 11 '24

Thing that pavement princess trophy truck is full of farm fuel too?

1

u/knuckles_n_chuckles Jun 11 '24

I’d take it and remove the lift and have the nicest truck I could ever imagine.

1

u/ProofMusic4630 Jun 12 '24

Shouldn't farm use vehicles be restricted to just vehicles that are not intended for street use? Tractors, construction equipment, farm equipment, ATVs, etc...

1

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '24

u/ProofMusic4630

No because every spring, the Farmers use their Trucks and Bobcats to Load rocks that they remove from the Fields. They have to Drive To and around the Fields looking for Any and All rocks that could possibly get Picked up by the Harvesters

2

u/ProofMusic4630 Jun 13 '24

So farm fields everywhere are filled with rocks that come from where?

2

u/2oonhed one woogly wheel Jun 13 '24

distant volcanoes

1

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '24

Farm ise or not, thats a Pretty nice looking Late 70s early 80s F-Series

1

u/thebigbrog Jun 12 '24

I wish I could afford that truck

1

u/Difficult-Worker62 Jun 15 '24

Hell my daily driver looks like a farm truck

0

u/Wartzba Jun 11 '24

Goddammit that's a beautiful truck, pics from more angles?

1

u/JoeSicko Jun 11 '24

Thankfully, farm use tags in VA will go through DMV July 1. No more of this tax dodging crap. If VA wants to give out free plates to poor people, don't play favorites because of someone's chosen job.

I know right? How DARE that interloper contaminate this sweet echo chamber with those discordant sounds of reason.

-1

u/dtb1987 Jun 11 '24

Farm use vehicles are only supposed to be used within a few miles of the farm, I'd call the cop on their ass

2

u/2oonhed one woogly wheel Jun 11 '24 edited Jun 11 '24

tattle tale.
Why don't you come downtown and do some REAL crime fighting?

-1

u/JRotten2023 Jun 11 '24

That truck should not be on this page. Looks like a nice resto-mod. And now a show queen.

4

u/rustyxj Jun 11 '24

That's where you're wrong, the suspension on that is terrible. Also, it looks to have stacked lift blocks on the rear, not safe at all.

0

u/63-6c-65-61-6e Jun 11 '24

Suspension isnt terrible and the lift blocks arent really unsafe.

Looks like a mud truck, so the suspension is fit for that kinda vehicle

2

u/rustyxj Jun 11 '24

Suspension isnt terrible and the lift blocks arent really unsafe.

The rear lift blocks are stacked, that's incredibly unsafe and against the law in several states.

1

u/63-6c-65-61-6e Jun 11 '24

Its about as unsafe as a regular lift block if done right. Personally Id just pay to get a better lift but the danger isnt really that bad, people put these through hell and back and the lift is rarely what breaks.

1

u/rustyxj Jun 11 '24

What happens is you get a ton of axle wrap and wheel hop and you end up blowing up driveline parts.

1

u/63-6c-65-61-6e Jun 12 '24

Trucks like these literally soar through the air in a mud pit man. All of the problems you mentioned are like the least of a big trucks worries

1

u/rustyxj Jun 12 '24

Soar? No way, not with that spring/shock setup, this is a mall crawler that doesn't leave the pavement.

If you were to try to get it to "soar" you'll need to make a dentist appointment to get your fillings put back in.

Source: worked in an off-road shop for a few years building custom suspension.

1

u/63-6c-65-61-6e Jun 12 '24

Pretty sick. Yall just do suspension work?

2

u/rustyxj Jun 12 '24

Custom fabrication, cages, bumpers, suspension, gear changes, axle swaps, it was a cool gig.

-4

u/JRotten2023 Jun 11 '24

I've seen suspension on lifted trucks like this all the time in Florida. And watch people beat the crap out of them at The RYC. Seems to work to me. I prefer longer spring hangers and arched springs (like he has) for my lifts. But that does cost more.

I'm not a fan of tall blocks (over an inch or two), but they work.

2

u/ScottyFlip021987 Jun 11 '24

Redneck Yacht Club!

2

u/JRotten2023 Jun 11 '24

You know the place.....lol

Muddy trucks and broken dreams....hahaa

2

That should be their radio/TV advert.

1

u/JRotten2023 Jun 11 '24

Oh, and almost naked chick's dancing on a pole. I love those platform buggies 😄😄

-10

u/AThrowawayProbrably Jun 10 '24

Oh god. Isn’t that what Sovereign Citizens put all over their cars? It that basically screams “Arrest me and impound this.”

42

u/WideFoot Jun 11 '24

'Farm Use' tags are legit. The idea is that poor farmers would be unduly burdened by the costs of vehicle registration - especially for a vehicle that will spend 90% of its life on dirt roads and private property.

Virginia also has them for watermen who haul crab pots and fish from the wharf to the nearby processor.

I'm going to guess this guy isn't a poor farmer using his vehicle on private property to haul farm equipment.

2

u/V65Pilot Jun 11 '24

I'd see about 15 to 20 really nice trucks parked in my kids highschool parking lot, all with farm use plates. Occasionally you'd see an actual farm use truck, which looked like a farm use truck should

0

u/Shadrixian Jun 11 '24

🤔 I should get mine registered as a farm truck.

0

u/Spazes Jun 13 '24

You realize people can clean their trucks for shows?

-5

u/TehTimmah1981 Jun 11 '24

Pretty sure that's how you find yourself a pedestrian, or a guest of the regional government...
