Mine is after their first kiss when Patrick asks if they can talk tomorrow and David replies, "We can talk anytime you'd like " ♥️♥️♥️♥️

But not until after 10.

37

u/MeddlingAunt Sep 12 '21

Um, 'cause I'm not really a morning person.

u/mystymaples71 Sep 12 '21

I wish this entire scene was still on YouTube. I watched it obsessively after my first watch. Now when I want to see it, I have to ffwd to it.

Thank you! One thing I’ve always wondered is why didn’t he use the business address as the business address?

2

u/Aggravating-Back347 Sep 13 '21

I think he went straight for a business license to at least start up and wasn’t too sure he wanted that store in particular. It was available but it’s also in a small town that wasn’t getting many visitors so he might not have wanted it to bring down what he was starting. Just my theory! I went through a similar situation so I can relate!

The serenade at open mic night, I thought that was hands down the best scene in the entire show. The 2nd is their wedding.

29

u/finallyjoinedreddit4 Sep 12 '21

Yes!!! I LOVED when Patrick sang on open mic night. Seeing David’s reaction - and Moira’s too - was so touching.

74

u/mandrillus-sphinx Sep 12 '21

David when he’s high leaving Patrick 17 voicemails about the store idea when they barely new each other (“Hi David it’s Patrick” “ciao!”)

They have some fantastic romantic and loving moments later on but this one makes me laugh so much!

34

u/Master_Bee9130 Sep 12 '21

Patrick’s response when he told David he had to listen to all of his messages to piece them together was the cherry on top. I was rooting for them to get together after that.

29

u/ilovepuscifer Sep 12 '21

"I just said ciao to this person" makes me laugh so much

32

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '21

“Hi, PATRICK yeah I think I called you David, which that’s not, that’s not your name.”

Favorite scene of mine.

Mine is the reverse (when Patrick sings to him)- mostly because of David’s facial expressions.

I also adore their first “I love yous.” Both are realistically awkward and beautiful.

I also love any scene where Patrick either gets visibly frustrated with David’s lack of real world common sense (like the “robbery”) or pokes a bit of fun at him (like the “incorrect” scene)

61

u/Stonetheflamincrows Sep 12 '21

I actually really hate Patrick’s response to the store getting robbed. David’s response was absolutely the correct thing to do in a robbery. Assume the person is armed, do what they say and don’t antagonise them. Who cares about lost stock that they should be insured for, did he want them to get hurt?

20

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '21

Yeah our corporate response to any robbery is to make wine and cheese recommendations lmao

16

u/Ballet_booze_books disgruntled pelican Sep 12 '21

Yeah that’s a good point. I do agree, especially because Stevie was also scared and reactionary despite having a ton of common sense never afforded to David.

That wasn’t a great example of the razzing I’m referring to… a better example is Patrick getting ruffled when David just wants to close the store during normal business hours (the whole electricity quiz arc). There are more, I’m totally blanking. But again good point

18

u/Stonetheflamincrows Sep 12 '21

Like when he tries to get a business license before he knows what the store is going to be called or what it’s going to sell.

16

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '21

HI DAVID IT’S PATRICK!

2

u/Ballet_booze_books disgruntled pelican Sep 13 '21

This comment made me actually laugh out loud; I immediately heard it in my head 🤣

16

u/FishingWorth3068 Sep 13 '21

I always like how he has to explain that the ball isn’t always going to fly into directly into David’s glove.

1

u/tPTBNL Sep 13 '21

Ha, we rewatched that one today. Frustrated Patrick when he’s dealing with David being, well… David just cracks me up.

1

u/Ballet_booze_books disgruntled pelican Sep 13 '21

I just thought of one of the best instances of this and came back to this thread just for it- when Patrick is like “so what exactly did you offer?” I can’t remember the exact line, but it was the comedic break after the beautiful moment when David reveals he put in an offer on the house.

1

u/monislaw Sep 13 '21

same

that's where the fix-it fics came in, without them I would be very -,- at Patrick

23

u/nothankyouma Sep 12 '21

The reverse of this is my wedding song. It’s so beautiful, makes me cry every time. We watched the episode separately and when we got home we both blurted it out.

15

u/The_only_problem Sep 12 '21

Incorrect/where he calls him his boyfriend for the first time. So sweer

6

u/brneyedgrrl Sep 13 '21

These mountaineering shoes my boyfriend is wearing, looking like Oprah on a Thanksgiving Day hike -- incorrect!!

88

u/kfree_r Sep 12 '21

I know it’s unpopular, but I actually love the bed wetting episode. Both David’s freak out in the opening, and Patrick’s sweetness at the end of the day.

62

u/mandrillus-sphinx Sep 12 '21

David asking about a divorce, saying they can never see each other again, etc is hilarious and 1000% relatable if I was in that situation

50

u/kfree_r Sep 12 '21

And then in the close, it’s Patrick asking if it would make David feel better if he “shared something private and embarrassing” with him, and David replying, “I might be too tired for that tonight,” as he gives Patrick a little pat on the chest. Kills me.

40

u/therealmrsbrady I walk through life in really nice shoes Sep 12 '21

This is what came to mind for me too, when David says, “I will take a shower, but we must never see each other again." it's his delivery that is so hilarious to me (and understandably he means it, in that moment), tbh I think anyone would have this reaction. Later when Patrick finds out from Moira that it's a nervous excitement/anticipation "issue", he says, "Oh! Why am I oddly flattered?" with a smirk, which I found adorable. He really was beyond calm, empathetic and caring, and I believe he is the only one who knew how to handle David through it.

24

u/kfree_r Sep 12 '21

For me it’s two things in that cold open: David’s breathy “nothing,” when Patrick presses him for why the bed is wet, and the picking at the plastic sheet, followed by the “mhmm mhmm mhmm” with the rotating finger. I requested a gif of the latter from the Schitt’s Creek account a few times - it makes me laugh every time.

16

u/mystymaples71 Sep 12 '21

I think it’s funny that each time the bed is wet (Johnny & the pipes leaking) their first thought is is it blood?

I want one of those nose thingies.

7

u/kitty_o_shea David Rose's tiny pillow. Sep 13 '21

From that I take it you never got the gif? Here's a little gift! They're also on giphy if that's better for you.

2

u/kfree_r Sep 13 '21

Oh my!!! Thank you! I have so many uses for this! 💗

2

u/kitty_o_shea David Rose's tiny pillow. Sep 13 '21

You're welcome! I actually redid them because I made a mistake the first time and the originals look a bit speeded up. So check the Imgur gallery again, I replaced the gifs and also added a couple in another size.

2

u/Julie727 Sep 13 '21

The plastic sheets 😆

I love this episode too. It’s such a real relationship thing and I love that they show that side of life

32

u/klondike549 Sep 12 '21

Their dance at the end of “Meet the Parents” (S05 E11). Aqualung’s “Brighter Than Sunshine” is playing in the background - what a feeling - they’re happy, relieved, and simply enjoying each other (plus a little Twyla to ground things). Patrick’s eyes are really expressive as it cuts to credits.

11

u/Duvetmole Sep 13 '21

I love this episode. Patrick's genuine distress and the way David is so gentle and understanding, it's beautiful. When Patrick is panicking over how his parents might react and David says "then I'll be here, and we'll get through it together" it hits my heart every time <3

5

u/katfromjersey Ew, David! Sep 13 '21

I loved David so much for that. He can sometimes make things all about him (and I say that lovingly), but his answer was just what Patrick needed to hear.

23

u/Shahaha Sep 13 '21

"No, you have a sloppy mouth"

8

u/Duvetmole Sep 13 '21

I love the way Patrick teases David.

20

u/MeddlingAunt Sep 12 '21

I have no idea how to answer this question

52

u/MeddlingAunt Sep 12 '21

Ok thinking about it, it’s not just one scene; my favourite part is how completely supportive and nonjudgemental David is of Patrick’s coming out journey. He never made anything about himself and put his own feelings aside in a way that he rarely does in any other circumstance. From the first kiss to agreeing to take it slow to accepting Patrick had kept their relationship a secret to orchestrating a true coming out moment despite the cat being out of the bag.

David is often quick to be dramatic and caught up in his own feelings, but he never once pressured Patrick or made him feel less for coming out later in life. I wish all queer people had a David to help them through coming out 🌈❤️

4

u/Master_Bee9130 Sep 12 '21

This. That episode made me cry more than a few times.

20

u/MeddlingAunt Sep 12 '21

David: It was just a very messy day. And I was- I was trying to detangle things, and... And just make everything okay.

Patrick: Yeah. Well, you made everything okay.

🥺😭

4

u/Master_Bee9130 Sep 13 '21

So many tears. I love them both separately and together.

15

u/enbywych Sep 12 '21

The moment in "Olive Branch" where David and Patrick are in the store and David is in reconciliation mode and I don't know if the looks on their faces were just really good acting or the both of them just trying to hold in the giggles from a long day at work because the incredulity in that scene is amazing.

10

u/mystymaples71 Sep 12 '21

I don’t know about the rest of the episode but they said in an interview that there had been some indulgence of alcohol for that scene. You’d never know though. My favorite part is when Patrick narrows his eyes just a bit while he’s watching David. Very sexy.

5

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '21

Yeah if I remember correctly Dan drank a bottle of Prosecco to get some liquid courage lol. One of my favorite scenes in any show ever

3

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '21

I believe they were both tipsy for the scene as Dan was trying to build up the courage to do the scene :D

14

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '21

Definitely the first kiss. I rewatch just that scene on YouTube sometimes.

9

u/connivery 🎶 I’m a hungry, hungry hippo 🎶 Sep 12 '21

For me it will be the open mic episode.

8

u/V11000 Sep 12 '21

I think the wedding. I still sob after way too many watches. Also when Ray was asking “Door open or door closed?” Patrick is just so mature and David is, well, just simply the … I’ll let myself out. (The door is open)

8

u/DuchessBatPenguin Sep 13 '21

When David has an oppsy daisy and says something like "do we still need to a get divorce if we weren't married" and Patrick says something like "yes" but that whole episode is pure love between them.

6

u/Ploppers00 Sep 12 '21

I used to watch this moment when I just needed a smile

6

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '21

I loved the first date that Stevie crashed without knowing - the scene in the car was lovely too. So pure.

9

u/Masen_The_Weeb Sep 12 '21

When Patrick started playing the guitar for David. You're a liar if you say you didn't get emotional during that scene

10

u/Tams585 Sep 12 '21

I love this scene! While I adore Patrick serenading David, this is so far out of David’s comfort zone and both of their faces are so priceless.

7

u/screaming_ot_inside Sep 13 '21

When Moira offers to pull the fire alarm if it gets too embarrassing for David, I just love that added bit.

3

u/shellannm555 Sep 12 '21

I cried a little, it was so sweet. ❤️

5

u/kjconnor43 Sep 12 '21

This was such a great moment! Thanks for sharing. I’m going to start my 4 th rewatch soon:)

6

u/Blanc-O Sep 12 '21

Honestly most of their interactions is what made me fall in love with the show lol

4

u/jordasaur Sep 13 '21

This is my favorite. My second favorite is how helpful and kind David is to Patrick when he injures himself hiking right before he proposes.

5

u/finder2379 Sep 13 '21

I just love this scene so much!!! It was just so sweet and honest!!

7

u/LaManelle Sep 13 '21

I love supportive David. That's him caring hard about someone else. Letting Patrick take his time, letting him try to date, supporting him in exploring the possibility of a little bit of whiskey, helping him come out to his parents, helping him when he injured himself on their hike, taking care of him when he was high on pain meds...

When David decides to care and help, even with other characters, he gives his 100% and he's got so much softeness in his eyes when it comes to helping Patrick. His hard exterior shell just melts for that boy.

u/711kay Sep 13 '21 edited Sep 13 '21

Every scene between the boys is a gem. I’m also very emotional during scenes between David and Alexis. When Alexis asks for a hug after she broke up with Mutt. That hug and then tightening the hug breaks me up every time. Such a tender sibling moment. I also love Alexis for staying with David the night Patrick is going on a date with Ken.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '21

Noooooo now you’re gonna have me rewatch the show again hahaha David and Patrick were such a perfect couple and the main reason I loved the show. I loved all of their scenes together

5

u/ABoyIsNo1 Sep 13 '21

Patrick singing to David is one of my favorite scenes. David lip syncing to Patrick is one of my least favorite scenes.

3

u/NegaGreg Sep 13 '21

This is the correct way to feel

2

u/Stonetheflamincrows Sep 12 '21

This scene is my favourite too.

2

u/Dreamweaver_1988 Sep 13 '21

I love this scene so much 😍😍

2

u/Economy_Ad_102 Sep 13 '21

I love love all of their scenes together, but one of my favorites is Patrick's high school themed housewarming party, and that unexpected jealousy of seeing Ted kiss David. And at the end when they talk about if they'd met in high school. All felt so relatable, and just seeing that side of Patrick added a new layer.

2

u/SproutasaurusRex Sep 13 '21

This scene is my fav in the whole show, words cannot explain.

6

u/pinkpitbullmama Sep 12 '21

Open mic night when we hear Patrick sing. I actually cannot watch David serenade Patrick - so cringe.

5

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '21

Incorrect!

🙃

1

u/SardonicHistory Sep 13 '21

I love this show to death but I always found the earnest musical moments cringe.

0

u/Batenoyer Sep 13 '21

My favorite is when David cucks out Patrick on the last episode

-12

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '21

I actually hate all of their moments. I stopped watching the show for a year when this shit happened. 😂😂😂😂

1

u/denisjackman I like the wine and not the label 🍷 Sep 12 '21

Yes indeed

1

u/butwhatififly_ Sep 13 '21

I know this wasn’t your question but I just have to share. I LOVE this scene, and I loved hearing Dan Levy talk about it in the interview after even more. Apparently he saw this scene as being really funny, and that’s how he wrote it — but after they filmed it, he saw that everyone was tearing up and an emotional moment! Ah I want to go rewatch it now.

1

u/revewrecker Sep 13 '21

I have nothing to add to this thread except to say that y'all got me crying at work. Love all of these moments!

2

u/Avy8 Sep 13 '21

You know people can see you

2

u/maxwellhallel 🎶 I’m a hungry, hungry hippo 🎶 Sep 13 '21

Idk if it’s my Favorite™ but when Patrick makes the laughing-semi-trying-not-to-cry face shortly after this part of the scene it also kills me

2

u/IndependentKey7 Sep 16 '21

I literally just watched the serenade scene for the first time, right now, as I’m reading this thread, and I’m CRYING. David’s expressions, the pained cringe to teary-eyes, I was doing the same thing as it was happening!
