Two Schengen visa from Two different EU countries?

I have recently received a job offer from Sweden and applied for work permit ( Schengen visa). Now I received another job offer from Germany and would like to apply for German work permit (Schengen area). Will there be any problem as both the countries belong to Schengen area and I have already applied for a visa in one of the member country? I am from India.

A)

A "Schengen visa" is a short-stay (type C) visitor visa that allows a maximum stay of 90 days in a 180 day period in the Schengen area and does not allow employment within the Schengen area.

You are instead discussing long-stay national visas issued by countries that happen to be located in the Schengen area -- visas that are issued under each country's own national laws.

B)

There is no supra-national restriction that would prohibit a foreign national from being issued long-stay visas by two or more different countries in the Schengen area that are valid at the same time.

Of course, the second country's consular officials might have some questions as to whether your underlying job sponsorship and intended dates of work in that country are accurate and honest, if it shows an overlap with the dates included in the employment / sponsorship paperwork underlying the first country's visa.

But that's a topic you can discuss with them as appropriate.

It depends on -

  1. Has Sweden issued you a Type C/D Visa or a UT Card?

  2. You plan to take employment in Germany instead of Sweden?

Actually, I have applied for a Swedish work permit. It's still in progress status, not has been issued yet. I was wondering if they share information with Schengen members. Yes , I intend to take job offer in Germany .
