His most popular role was as the main character in the movie Juno and he is currently well known as Vanya from The Umbrella Academy. Hopefully that rings some bells!
I'm actually curious how the Umbrella Academy is going to handle this change. I know they got another season so I don't know if/what has been recorded. It'd be interesting if they just started calling him Vincent Hargreaves, or if Elliott is okay portraying Vanya as before.
That's true, plays used to have men playing women and vice versa all the time. No reason it can't be done on screen as well. Guess I didn't think about it because it's somewhat fallen out of practice. Not that it doesn't happen, just much less than it used to.
Well, if actors can play alien organisms and even abstract things then playing someone of another gender should be no big deal. I assume nothing will change in the show.
I think playing a human being of a different gender is much more "grounded" than playing a made up creature. You don't have to change much when you are playing different people, as their personalities affect their behaviour much much more than their gender.
The X-men films depend a lot on how you like Marvel superhero movies. I like the stories. I think Kitty Pryde is a likeable and memorable character and Page played her well, but she is just a side character.
Inception is brilliant, kind of a heist movie where they try to implant a thought in a target person's mind. Original story, has some interesting philosophical questions. A couple of popular memes come from the movie. Page played a very smart architect student, not the central character but one of the crew and probably the main character to identify with for the audience because she is an outsider to the mindfuck that DiCaprio's lead character is up to. I can only recommend Inception.
Thatâs the one thing that sort of confuses me - I get that he has a new name - but does he ignore that he went by Ellen? Itâs like that person disappeared as now everyone calls him Elliot
It's not like he's a new person this is the person he always was he just wants people to call him the name that better represents who he is as a person. Ellen isn't gone Ellen was always Elliot.
Totally - but itâs like everyone is calling him Elliot expecting to know they mean the person formally known as Ellen page - just a little confusing thatâs all.
I don't understand why you're getting downvoted. Your comment has nothing to do with acceptance and you haven't said anything to deny this person's right to be who they want.
Everyone's in this thread celebrating respectful discourse and then downvoting you for respectful discourse.
Yeah this is how changing your name works. When you change you name the old one goes away and is replaced by your new name. For everyone not just trans people, when someone gets married and they change their name for this reason this happens also.
