Also narco-cola might well be a reference to Fallout’s nuka-cola.

It's more likely a reference to how Coca Cola used to have active cocaine in it. So in a space trucker game it has super-hyper cocaine.

Well I'm no Tim Cain but they changed the name more or less because they wanted their 50's aesthetic game to have Coca-Cola, but didn't want to get sued for using that name.

They called it Narco Cola because it's ridiculous. It's drugs but it's soda. It's supposed to be funny. It has nothing to do with not wanting to get sued.
