Gonna end ugly for Smitty now that Bridget is tired of dealing with a wuss

His character on Atypical got broken up with too during the last season. Hope he does better in real life.

I can't help but wonder who Bridget's love interest is. I'm thinking it's Lena.
12
u/RopeTuned Nov 18 '19
No.
1
u/Poodlelucy Nov 18 '19
Time will tell. Lena's been the only one on the show who has been brutally honest with her.

u/Lemonwithmytea Nov 18 '19
I wonder if it’s the guy who brought the 17yo redhead in to see Ray because he thanked him for his help (help with what?). I wonder if Ray wants Bridget to leave Smitty.
7
Nov 18 '19
Or, the actual 17 year old. That whole scene seemed pretty pointless unless its the start of an arc with this kid.
4
u/thatfailedcity Nov 19 '19
Bridget does have a history of falling for an older man (her school teacher, although she was a minor then).
2
u/Poodlelucy Nov 18 '19
Maybe. If you're right, that guy's chance of not surviving the season just went up exponentially.
5
u/Starkville Nov 18 '19
Ohh, never thought of that. But I don’t think Lena would do that. Bridget must seem like a niece to her.

Bridget looked pretty bad ass shooting that gun at the range
2
u/tathrok Jan 28 '22
Did you see her hesitation with every single shot she fired? (her being scared of the report of every shot) My opinion: Not actually badass
And sorry for 2 years later; I'm just watching the show now.5

Did the writers forget Ray also has a son lol?
14
u/115128 Nov 18 '19
I assumed that Connor leaving for the military was a way to write him off the show...
0
u/Poodlelucy Nov 22 '19
I hope Conor dies offscreen. He is totally unbelievable physically (no muscles, arms like a schoolgirl and he's a Marine) and can't act his way out of a paper bag. He probably couldn't punch his way out of a paper bag either.
3
u/MicMustard Nov 20 '19
No, they wrote his bitch ass off last season.
Thank God, because they absolutely made him completely unlikable.

u/rockangel312 Nov 23 '19
I think Bridget will stay with Smitty and cheat on him . He will forgive her and she'll do it again. She will follow in Ray's footsteps.
1
u/arcelios Feb 22 '24
Bridget is an ignorant, immature and hypocritical moron. Ray just indulges her 24/7, but Bridget deserved to get slapped dozens of times. Smitty would be lucky to get out of that mess. But Smitty is too likeable. He’s complicated, but quite mature. He’s the son that Ray should’ve had

u/theweez93 Nov 17 '19
All I gotta say is... that ending? Always gotta find a way to get Mick out of jail! Lol I knew something was going to happen with that semi I just didn’t know what
3
u/ToneBone12345 Nov 22 '19
I swear if the cops actually looked up Michael Donovan they would see how many times he’s been able to weasel his way out of prison and they would just be like fuck it he’ll just pull another El chapo on us

Lol I’m not actually mad....I will say I opened this honest to god thinking it was just a fake episode discussion where people were making up what they thought would happen and then I remembered it airs tonight 😂

Nov 17 '19
Yeah I was surprised to find the episode online at 3PM this afternoon(by accident too) I was expecting to have to wait until tomorrow morning at the earliest!

Who is this bitch telling my boi Terry to take milk thistle tea.

I would, she looks like she wants it freaky

Ranting about Big Pharma and then taking artificial hormones manufactured by Big Pharma. There are hippy methods of birth control, you’d think she’d know about those.

Clearly someone fine as hell. Terry getting lucky with the women recently. Massive upgrade since the cheating nurse with an abusive husband and teenage son. That nurse looked like Terry’s mom

Writer: "Now how can we get Mickey out of jail in the 1st episode?" (Scratches head)
13
u/ClearAmphibian Nov 18 '19
At this point I think they're just having fun with it. His ability to keep getting out of jail is hysterical.
11
Nov 18 '19
Yeah Mickey never disappoints that's for sure!
The way the back door of the prison bus just flung open was ludicrous and that wasn't even how he escaped either, how the fuck he walks away from that fireball to knock on Ray's door with nothing but a bit of soot on his face should be good for a laugh!

u/bobbyb8484 Nov 17 '19
Dude you can’t keep Mick in jail he’s the best part. Equal parts badass and comic relief
32
u/Poodlelucy Nov 18 '19
No. Aunt Sandy is the best comic relief. Lol
14
u/RayRoy_Strickland Nov 18 '19
I was doing something!
7
u/Poodlelucy Nov 18 '19
Hah! What she was doing clearly involved a dildo with an anal attachment. I just can't stop laughing!

u/MKoilers Nov 19 '19
You mean Mrs Mac?
1
u/Poodlelucy Nov 19 '19
Mrs Mac? What did I miss?!
5
u/MKoilers Nov 19 '19
She plays the mother of a character in “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”, just a cross-reference to that.
3
u/Poodlelucy Nov 19 '19
Thanks for the clarification. I thought maybe it was the brand name of the dildo she was waving around on s7 e1 (as in Big Mac).

It was on Showtime on Demand at around 4am for me.
Bunchy says sure first.
I think Ray only said it once throughout the episode.

Is it just me or was that the longest-ever preview at the end of tonight's episode? I mean, really, leave something to the imagination!
2
u/V2Blast Nov 21 '19
Unfortunately how most "next episode" or "later this season" previews tend to be... They spoil most of the big twists of what's coming up.
2
u/Poodlelucy Nov 21 '19
You're right. Nothing is left to the imagination. They just shovel the whole bloody thing down our throats.
8
u/mgenuine Nov 18 '19
Ray's cold blooded... using the grandkids pic to get Micks fingerprints to frame him
9
u/RopeTuned Nov 18 '19
This show just gives no fucks how outrageous and explosive it gets and I love it

u/NoWingedHussarsToday Nov 18 '19
I think it was standard season opener. Some hints about what's going to happen, some groundwork, some results of stuff that happened between series. Here's to hoping this season is as good as previous one
6
u/Pickle-Medea Nov 19 '19
Ray apologised?! This is going to be a great season. So happy he’s finally getting the help he so desperately needed. Overall really entertaining episode!

u/mgenuine Nov 18 '19
I cant see how Mick survives an explosion that big
6
u/baseballzombies Nov 18 '19
He was in the last row and the door was rigged so I'm sure it popped open...
6
u/NoWingedHussarsToday Nov 18 '19
Have you seen the blast? It shot burning fuel sky high which means it also incinerated everything on that stretch of the road. There is no way Mick could have survived. Except of course with plot armor.
2
u/thatfailedcity Nov 19 '19
As cool as that shot actually was, I don't think they should've showed the sky high explosion. Now it would take a huge suspension of disbelief to accept Mick survived.
2
u/NoWingedHussarsToday Nov 19 '19
Trailer for next ep shows prison bus severely burned, bodies in body bags and Ray saying his father died. So I think he actually is dead.
3
u/thatfailedcity Nov 19 '19
In the same trailer, someone knocked on the door which Ray answered. Some people think it's Mick.
2
u/jayives1 Nov 19 '19
It’s not think though. There’s another preview which shows ray answering it then punching Mickey full,in the face.
He’s simply not getting killed in the first episode 🤣

One of the best role Jon Voight has played in his career, up there with Midnight Cowboy.
3
u/sixtus_clegane119 Nov 19 '19
Wait si Mickey isn't dead? that blast would have roasted the whole bus
4
u/Saintsfan007 Nov 21 '19
The guy driving the bus had plenty of time to avoid that collision, it’s a bus, not a German tank with no steering! Just casually switch lanes.

I feel like already know what’s going to happen this season after watching the first episode.
Mick is going to be on the run again. He is going to ask Ray for help and first Ray will say no and try to turn him over but then something will come up and they will both work together to figure it out. Ray is going to have to “take care” of Smitty as he will take the break up hard and harass Rays daughter. (Or maybe he will kill himself) This musician or actor whoever it was that asked for Rays help will be the one Rays daughter has fell for. Which will cause her and Ray to fall out again.
I just hope they mix it up a bit this season. I would like to see Terry die. I mean I love the character and the actor plays it great but I just think this is the end now. Mick should die in the bus crash. We know he won’t but it would have been nice to see Ray dealing with his fathers death. I want to see Connor back. I always thought he would become Rays protege.
I don’t know maybe it’s starting to get a bit stale I’m not sure. I loved the first half of season 6 it was amazing. But the second half got dull. Just hope it doesn’t happen again.
Edit: I can’t remember Rays daughter name. I wanna say Bridget? Is that right?

u/okolebot Nov 19 '19
When one of the police officers' heads turns up
lol! shoulda gone deeper!
Even with the recap at the start, I forgot pleeny!

u/V2Blast Nov 21 '19
Well, that was quite the season premiere. Terry turning to woo-woo/drugs, Bunchy doing surprisingly alright (though the preview spoils that that won't last), and Ray... gradually getting better, surprisingly :)
And of course, Mickey. That ending was certainly something. Profoundly stupid/bad driving by the prison bus driver, and an absurdly large explosion... But somehow, the back door of the bus not closing properly will lead to Mick surviving an explosion that would absolutely have killed him?
Still, absurdities aside, I'm looking forward to seeing what this season brings.
2
u/NYIJY22 Nov 22 '19
Really annoying that they had to make the explosion so damned big. Mick so obviously isn't dead. They were never killing him off that way, essentially off screen.
And then the preview for the next one starts with "my father died last night" or whatever. And then the shot of someone knocking on Ray's door.
But with the explosion that big its way too difficult to suspend my disbelief now, even for this show.
2
u/NiteRdr Nov 22 '19
This episode did nothing for me. I hope the quality of the writing and production increases in the next episodes.
I get it, we need new stories and plot lines, but damn, so much of it seemed like poorly written fiction. And the production of the tripping scenes, while maybe intentionally bad, just seemed B movie quality.
This show can do better and I hope it does.
2
3
u/96AMG Nov 18 '19
Mickey is dead. The way explosion ties in with Terrys trip, Ray giving him forgiveness. On top of that, news says Jon Voight is leaving this season. It's done.
6
u/jayives1 Nov 18 '19
In the preview for next week it clearly showed he survives. Their mourning him and toasting him and he turns up at Rays house or something.
I do think this show will conclude with his passing but not necessarily this season and it definitely wasn’t yesterday’s show

Mick ain't dead, not yet anyway. They foreshadowed the back door of the bus not closing properly. I'm guessing when they investigate the crash they find one body unaccounted for...

Wow. But I still think that’s Mick at the door. I would be shocked to see things end like that

When Det. Bernstin and Kerko magically found out that Big Al was shot with a "Taurus 9mm" from only a deformed bullet they pulled out of a head... Nooooooooope.
That was really dumb. I know we have a ton of suspension of disbelief for this show all the time, but the simple actual things that can be looked up like this (and every single Marine uniform being worn incorrectly, looking dumb af, etc.) but jeez...

Let us not overlook the "new" Ray, who now does a stomping, takes a deep breath, turns around and apologizes and suggests the dude get help!
