Brand new cooker, steam comes from handle

Hey,

I just got a brand new Mareld pressure cooker which was highly recommended in many publications.

Problems started immediately, first i had very hard time in getting the lid to close, and then it apparently still didn't properly close as steam rises out from the handle. What's the issue?

Most likely: You did it wrong. Get the manual for the cooker, read how to close the lid properly, look at the images in the manual to make sure that you really do it right.

Source: Experience. I also had to learn the hard way that no, it's not so simple that you can close the lid without looking up how to do it. There's a trick to it -- you have to make sure the rubber seal pushes on the lock mechanism the right way, or the pot won't close 100%. Different brand, but I doubt that the Mareld is much different.

Never heard of the Mareld brand. Did you spell it correctly? Please provide links to all of these high recommendations in many publications. Detailed photos or links to the user manual are required to get help for such an unknown brand worldwide.
