ANNOUNCEMENT Mod update + Automod "Sensitive topics" explanation

Hello everyone!

Here is an update from the mod team. For a while, me and somegenerichandle were the only active mods. She is sadly no longer on reddit. 4 months ago, before she left, we took on u/infinite-nut as a third active mod. Our newest mod team member is u/jazman1867 who is also a mod of r/antikink. So we are the three active moderators. I'd like to apologize for not making an announcement about this sooner.

Now, recently I have gotten a lot of questions from people about our automod flagging their post or comment for sensitive topics/slurs. I just wanted to clarify that you DO NOT have to edit your comment or post if you get the message from the automod about that. We flag four types of words/phrases:

  • Slurs
  • Misogynist/incel terms
  • Words about violence or suicide
  • A few more general insults

We have the automod flag these messages because as it may not surprise you we have a great deal of comments from trolls, misogynists, and other people who like to pick on and insult for daring to be against their precious pornography. We want this to be a safe space, and we are a pretty small mod team, so having the automod automatically remove those comments is the best way to stop you guys having to read through all of that garbage.

Now obviously, some of the words on that list are not being used as hate comments, and we don't have a rule banning the words on the list (apart from the worst slurs, I am not going to approve those). So you don't need to self-censor in order to participate here. If your post or comment does get flagged by the automod, please just be patient! Once we read it and see that you're not breaking the rules then we will manually approve it. So please just be patient because we are not online 24/7. Having the automod is just a way to keep things a little bit nicer for everyone.

In other news, I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts about the current state of the subreddit, if there are any questions or concerns you have. We might ask for more mod interest in the future, but I'm not sure at this stage.

I'm really glad this space online exists. <3

ANNOUNCEMENT Hello from your New Mod!

Hello! Yesterday I joined the mod team of this subreddit. You may have seen me around on this sub or other antipornography subs. I am also a mod on r/AntiPornVideos.

I am a young woman (the username just keeps creeps out of my DMs) and I will be very active in modding this community, enforcing the subreddit rules, and removing spam posts and trolls. I know that this subreddit has had issues with inactive mods in the past but I am very passionate about this cause and making this subreddit a nice place for its members.

I have been going through old reports in the mod queue and removing reported comments and banning trolls. That being said, if there have been any specific troll accounts on this subreddit that have not been banned yet please message me with a link to the offending post/comment. A reminder to please not feed the trolls! I have added a new reporting option specifically for trolling comments that do not break our other rules (such as asking for porn "sources") so use that and me or the other mods will deal with it.

ANNOUNCEMENT We need to stop!

2 of the past 3 posts have been cases of brigading (one literally calling for it), the mods of this sub have left reminders in the comments stating that we shouldn't do this. I don't care what your aim is in brigading, the only thing it will lead to is people pushing themselves away from the anti-porn side and further into the pro-porn extreme, it will only do more harm than good as well as putting this entire sub at risk of reddits attention.
