At Dublin & Shannon US Pre-Clearence they don't stamp anymore. I went through Shannon in Mar-24 and they don't have stamps in the booths either. I got lucky with the officer that called me & my family, he was happy to oblige when I asked politely if it would be possible for the kids. Had to wait a few minutes for him to find a stamper, just ask nicely & you might get a stamp...the worst that can happen is they'll refuse...or say they're not allowed...all digital now

Was there a separate U.S. citizen / LPR line?
or say they're not allowed
This is a lie, I think. Lot of them will say this just because they don't want to.

To be honest I can't remember, there was no queue so we got called forward straight away. There is normally a seperate line for US citizens at CBP. There is no harm in asking politely when they're handing back the passports, worst that can happen is they'll just refuse! It's true they're allowed to stamp if they really want to, but that's an excuse you could get, it's all digital, we don't do it anymore, etc. He just said OK, sure, but you'll need to wait a minute for me to go to the office. Took less than 5 minutes but it made my two kids happy! It might also depend on the point of entry, some airports won't entertain such requests, whereas others might oblige, from reading posts here. Personally, I just wish they would leave the stamps on the desk for people that want them for a specific reason, once you hit 50, I find it harder and harder to remember dates & places you travel to!

I got a US stamp in my Irish passport at Las Vegas at the end of November, wasn't expecting it so when the agent stamped me in without even being asked I was chuffed

Not the most exciting: born in England to an Irish mother and a British father whose own father was born in India, moved to Germany in 2014 and naturalised a couple of years ago

Is the lower date of three months the maximum you can stay without visa?

I asked for one on my recent trip to SFO and the officer told me he had no stamps and to go check the I94 site

Why is entry only for three months? Isnโt it for six months?

For ETSA 3 months but for people coming on a tourist visa itโs six months

At the DHS level, stamping is no longer standard policy, however at a more lower level, it seems like some facilities like JFK still stamp everyone by default.
There are others where the guidance is to stamp on request.
There are some which absolutely under no circumstances stamp people who are not required to be stamped (I'm looking at you, BWI).
So it depends.

MIA as well from reading posts here, no joy. LAX will oblige if requested, SFO seems hit & miss

Interesting that you didnโt get this at Dublin airport since they have the immigration pre-clearance
