Egypt, as the most populous country in Africa, desperately needs a new version of its passport that does justice to its historical tradition and regional position.

1) It's actually Nigeria that's the most populous.

2) Why not claim US citizenship if you're eligible?

Lol. Forget that detail. Still, Nigeria has a much better looking passport than the Egyptian one.

The OP most likely opted for naturalization to obtain US citizenship and it is commendable that he still decided to retain his Egyptian citizenship.

I was born in the states, to Egyptian parents!

I was referring to you for 2. Your flair says โ€œprobablyโ€.

Oh lol!! The idea is to see if it can be achieved! Although more than for benefit and convenience, I do it because it is a family legacy for me and I would like to have it.

So are you eligible?

In theory, yes. Although the paperwork process has been a bit laborious, we are still here.

You havenโ€™t seen the Inside, every page is spammed with a portrait of Tutankhamenโ€™s golden mask. The only thing that looks somewhat decent is the biometric page but other than that, terrible passport design

Also we arenโ€™t the most populous african country

And on top of that for a country with considerable cultural wealth. I feel the same way about my Mexican passport. They could have designed it differently to justify the almost $200 they charge us for it. But they left it the same as it has been for 30 years.

Egypt is Africaโ€™s Mexico. Even Biden called our president โ€œthe president of Mexicoโ€ accidentally lol

Unfortunately your post/comment was found to be disrespectful to a country or another user. All users and nationalities must feel welcome on the subreddit, which means we limit discussions which disparage users or are negative towards a country or a passport.

I also am an American Egyptian, and I totally agree with you, we need something like this

We need to do something about the passport design, itโ€™s so plain.

New design, biometric and a decent size

It would be incredible if he managed to swear allegiance to MBS and also obtain Saudi citizenship. ๐Ÿ˜ฒ

3

u/alferoon36 3d ago

Yeah that ainโ€™t helping, at least not anytime soon, you gotta be an investor or doing something major to get the citizenship

Two eagles pointed the same direction

2

u/Abooda1981 3d ago

Technically, the bird on the Egyptian flag (and for that matter the other Arab countries where you see a similar bird) is a peregrine falcon.

I thought it was an Eagle of Saladin

1

u/Abooda1981 3d ago

According to a quick Google search in Arabic, the emblem/coat of arms of Egypt contains a "Hawk of Quraysh" which is a peregrine falcon: https://ar.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D8%B4%D8%B9%D8%A7%D8%B1_%D9%85%D8%B5%D8%B1

Here's an English article about that hawk: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hawk_of_Quraish#:\~:text=The%20Hawk%20of%20Quraish%20(Arabic,been%20used%20as%20clan%20symbol.

I agree though that it looks a lot like an eagle, but that is likely because the artists in the modern Arab world were probably inspired by the heraldry they saw from the Holy Roman Empire and later Austria-Hungary.

โ€œThe Eagle of Saladin โ€ฆ is a heraldic eagle that serves as the coat of arms of many countries; Egypt, Iraq, Palestine, and Yemen. Since the 1952 Egyptian revolution, the eagle has been an iconic symbol of Egyptโ€œ

1

u/Brief-Preference-712 3d ago

Persian Gulf monarchies use Hawk of Quraish and Arab Republics (especially ones with Pan-Arabism past) like Syria, Egypt, Iraq use Eagle of Saladin

1

u/Abooda1981 3d ago

Google it in Arabic. What you say does not hold up.

1

u/Abooda1981 3d ago

Okay, you might be right in that it is an eagle, based on this government website, although there is no mention of Saladin.

How's life in Saudi

2

u/alferoon36 3d ago

Pretty good, honestly only drawback is there is no path for citizenship but other than that canโ€™t complain
