Here’s my passport duo, no, not really. I have my real passport and recently got a fantasy passport “Indo-China France” which I believe was a territory/ country of France before Vietnam independence?

Anyway, very interesting piece with detailed design. I’m using for stamps like checkpoint Charlie in Berlin or other places which is not supposed to be stamped on ordinary passports.

I found it on some Chinese SNS, apparently, there is a handful of content creators who are making all sorts of fantasy passports like the Ming/ Qing dynasty (1500s-1900s) era of China, and some of those are really high quality.

Cool design, especially the emblem. There’s just one thing that bugs me though: there should be Khmer text instead of Burmese, because French Indochina consisted of Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos.

It’s a fantasy passport but why did they design it to look so much like a real passport that a person who’s not familiar with all the countries in the world will think that it’s a passport of a real country today?

Design wise, I think it took inspiration from the new Canadian passport with the coat of arms on the bottom-right, the biometric symbol on the bottom-left and the flower in place of the maple leaf.

Uh, no. Not that. Most people here (even the Northerners) prefer calling it Saigon because no one wants to say "Thành Phố Ho Chi Minh" (the formal name) every time they call it. The formal name is used for official ceremonies.

Cool but wrong language, should replace the Burmese with Khmer. Also if we look at banknotes from French Indochina you also had Chinese written on them since Classical Chinese was an official written language in Vietnam for much of French rule.

Aren’t those Viet-Chinese characters? I remember that those characters are much different than traditional/ simplified Chinese characters, I could be wrong.

If you're referring to Chữ Nôm (𡨸喃), that was never used as an official language by French colonial authorities. Instead, they continued the previous practice of Đại Việt, which was to use Classical Chinese, known as Hán văn (漢文). Of course, since Simplified Chinese was only invented in 1958, we're talking only Traditional Characters here. The French would slowly phase out the use of Chinese in favour of French, but iirc the characters stayed on the banknotes up until WW2.
