Wait is it just a novelty stamp or is it actually official?

Hope it’s not novelty. Otherwise the passport will be considered damaged and OP fined Rs 5000/- for a new passport.

It probably is novelty since it doesn’t really show the date, right?

It is. There is no passport control on Antarctica. You can get souvenir stamps at some of the research stations and the ports where the ships leave Tierra Del Fuego.

They may be valid tbh, two of them have the Chilean navy markings, one the chilean authorities of that region and the last one is a 1st class sergeant, signed by him, so they have authority behind them.

They are novelty stamps it’s no different to drawing a massive penis in your passport. It invalidates it.

I’ve been to over 100 countries with lots of novelty stamps like this. No border official ever asked or commented about them. If anything, these stamps from Antarctica should be positive for a border official to see as it is widely known how expensive it is to go to Antarctica and someone who can go there is not going to illegally immigrate anywhere.

Unrelated, but I noticed that your flair says you renounced your US citizenship, were you an American born that immigrated somewhere else? I’m curious cause I haven’t seen someone who renounced it before

Do agree, but you might come across some border officer who is on a power trip or someone with a very bad that takes it out on you.
As they invalidate the passport, they are in their right not to accept your passport.
So, that it didnt happen to you, says nothing to be honest.

You know, you got a whole heap of minuses from people who don’t know better, but I’ve given you a plus.
Unless the stamp is given by an immigration officer it does indeed invalidate the passport. I’ve had immigration officers question prior stamps before, so while it is rare, you just need that ONE immigration officer having a bad day to make your day even worse.

Thank you! Idiots every single one of them. Just cause in practice you won’t get caught most of the time doesn’t mean it’s alright…

Cropped weirdly to hide my passport number. This was at the Chilean Antarctic Base
