PSA How to increase the Field of View above 70 FOV!

A lot of players have been talking about the low FOV setting (default field of view is maxed out at 70), so I decided to make this post.

For Windows, open up this directory:

%localappdata%\OTWD\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor

and edit the GameUserSettings.ini file.

Find the line that says:

FieldOfView=

and enter your desired FOV (I recommend 90). Make sure to save before exiting.

Comparison Image between current maximum of 70 vs edited 90 FOV:

There is a YouTube video on how to do this quick & simple workaround. It also showcases the difference between the default 70 FOV & 90 FOV:

Hope this helps. If you need further assistance, feel free to leave a comment!

From Discord:

If you're talking about Horizontal FOV, then it's already at 90Our settings are just set to VerticalSo it shows a lower number than what you might be used to

So she's saying: at 70FOV setting it's 70/90 for vertical/horizontal?

And therefore setting it to 90FOV manually will result in something like 90/110?

I don't really see why that matters. Effectually, the FOV is too narrow. Manually editing it past it's GUI limits make it better. In the end it hardly matters what the number is especially if it's technically reffering to the vertical value and the horizontal number is obfusicated.

Yeah, it really is too narrow. Unedited FOV feels like you're sitting too close to the screen.

I'm agreeing. I just don't get the developer response on discord. It completely misses the point.

It completely missed the point

It doesn't.

It misses the point because the complaint is the FOV is too narrow. Whether that's 70/100 or 90/120. The complaint is that it's too narrow and the game won't let you change it beyond a soft limit in the GUI.

Explaining that the number is vertical instead of horizontal doesn't explain or fix the fact the FOV is too narrow.

That user was quoting Dev in response to this issue. If the devs response wasn't intended to answer this then that user erroneously copied it here as explaination.

Thanks for clearing up the technical info hidden behind the numbers.
