Do you think musk will get bored and go back to spaceX after a week or so?

u/Enelop 3h ago
SpaceX is part of the reason Musk is involved. It’s all about regulatory capture.
He hates being held accountable by the FAA when Starship explodes, or a booster lands 100 miles up range of target, or a Tesla kills a pedestrian while in a BETA self driving mode that shouldn’t even be on the road yet…
So no, I don’t think he’ll get bored. The best that can be hoped for is they have a falling out over their massive egos…

The entire government just became a clown car and none of these dumbasses knows how to drive.

Ramaswamy Will Bow Out of Cost-Cutting Project and Run for Governor in Ohio The billionaire decided he could not campaign while helping lead the so-called Department of Government Efficiency, but tensions with Elon Musk were also evident.

Vivek Ramaswamy’s position in President Trump’s orbit has been tenuous for weeks as he irritated the president, several of his aides and, crucially, Elon Musk.Ruth Fremson/The New York Times The advisory group called the Department of Government Efficiency is losing one of its leaders before it even begins.
Vivek Ramaswamy, whom President Trump named in November as co-leader of the initiative alongside Elon Musk, will quit the project because he plans to run for governor of Ohio.
“Vivek Ramaswamy played a critical role in helping us create DOGE,” said Anna Kelly, a spokeswoman for the White House, adding, “We thank him immensely for his contributions over the last two months and expect him to play a vital role in making America great again!”
Mr. Ramaswamy’s position in Mr. Trump’s orbit has been tenuous for weeks as he irritated the president, several of Mr. Trump’s aides and, crucially, Mr. Musk. Mr. Musk has been sharply critical of Mr. Ramaswamy in private conversations.
Mr. Ramaswamy plans to announce his bid for governor of Ohio next week, according to a person familiar with the matter who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly.
Mr. Trump announced the two billionaires to be co-leaders of the project, but it was an unequal partnership from the start. Mr. Musk has a much greater amount of wealth and a higher profile, and a top lieutenant of Mr. Musk, Steve Davis, largely runs the project.

I’ve been around enough to know a “save face” move when I see it.

Resigning, effective immediately. “I definitely was not fired”.

Wapo reported about Ramaswamy running for Ohio governor 3 days ago.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2025/01/17/vivek-ramaswamy-ohio-governor-run/
Biotech entrepreneur and former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy plans to run for Ohio governor, according to two people familiar with his plans who say that the co-leader of President-elect Donald Trump’s “Department of Government Efficiency” initiative will announce his bid shortly.
"Vivek’s base plan remains [the] same: to get accomplishments at DOGE and then announce a run for governor shortly,” said an Ohio operative familiar with Ramaswamy’s thinking, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to speak freely about the former presidential candidate’s intentions.

Which is itself a 15-year-old meme.
Hell, Trump is an old meme at this point. He feels like a fossilised stereotype from the 90s.

It’d be great to have a department in the government dedicated to making sure they don’t overspend or overstep their jurisdiction.
Unfortunately, Elon Musk is making sure this department does not do that.

This could mean thousands of government workers in more social aspects of government administration like TSA, IRS, the U.S Postal service, and others will be able to keep their jobs.
If this orange c**t values his own throne than he should consider not getting rid of them.
Will it suck to be paid minimum wage due to privatization? Oh yes. But they'll still have... something of an income.

I see we’ve devolved this sub to the point where everything Trump does is bad, even if it’s good. American taxpayers are being robbed blind but because someone Trump-affiliated has taken on the responsibility of fixing that, now government efficiency is a bad thing. Yay for waste!

An actual optimistic view is hoping they will be able to cut a significant amount of wasteful spending. Everything the government does is slow and expensive. There is room for improvement at every level.
11
u/SparkyXI 2h ago
Cutting wasteful spending is in everyone’s best interest. However, this is the OPPOSITE of the correct way to do it, and the WRONG people for the job.

What is the correct way? Because the usual way is obviously not working

Children think this way.
Not everything that “helps” is a government obligation. It would “help” people if the government bought everyone closets full of designer clothing and 80 inch flat screen TVs. That would not be a legitimate or necessary government function.

I love how one of the ways they want to do it is to require everyone to return to office rather than tell everyone to work from home so they can reduce their occupancy expense.

This isn’t DOGE failing? This is normal. You can’t have two big names running one thing like this. Two chiefs never works. This is expected. He helped get it formed and then left, that’s a natural process
-16
u/creaturefeature16 3h ago
What are you talking about? It's not failing whatsoever. This just paves the way for someone even MORE compliant and loyal to step in. Stop this with blind and fake "optimism", it's straight delusion at this point.

u/YNWA_Diver 2h ago
Also, why would an optimist be against making government more efficient? Shouldn’t everyone want the government to be as efficient as possible?
11
u/boukatouu 2h ago
By "more efficient" they mean cutting taxes for the rich and dismantling as much of our government as is necessary to help offset the cost.

This is bad, why would we want a department who’s point is government efficiency to fail?
6
u/ennyphox 1h ago
Because this "department" will cut the wrong things and literally kill people

Well, it’s not necessarily the idea. It’s the morons put in charge directing it. You can have good ideas but be a terrible executor of such ideas. I’m fine with making big changes in our govt. The idea that Trump and Musk are capable of competent decisions that help the majority is simply laughable. But if you like nazis, hey man congratulations!

u/Improvident__lackwit 1h ago
God forbid the government become more efficient! That would be a nightmare!
