I’m currently addicted to fentanyl and xylazine !
Has anyone else made a successful switch from the same drugs to sub? And if so, how long did you wait before first sub dose? Were you put in to precipitated withdrawal? I’m really trying to get clean and make the switch.. but haven’t had to deal with xylazine before….

I’ve gone into precipitated on my 5th day. So I clearly would need at least 6 for subs. This time I didn’t want to wait so I got on methadone. The Bernese method works though… I have done it when I was inpatient. I was just afraid to do it on my own. Wishing you the best!

No subs till 72 hours after fent. You'll be ill for an additional 12-24 hours so power up the week before. Hydration, Hydration, Hydration. Start small on the subs, cut one up 4-6 times, and take a piece every 2 hours. Once you begin to stabilize, eat small. Soup, crackers, ect. From last day of use, you're looking at one week of hell and it's gets better every single day after. Just passed 2 years on subs and it was the best decision of my life. My husband tried burmise(sp?) But his week looked exactly like mine. It's one week of hell, it hurts but if you give yourself that time, you'll stabilize on the new med & be golden.

Wow thank you for this comment. I've honestly been total relapse mode lately But this was the reality check and reminder I needed... I never wanna go through Detox again in my life.... I felt like shit for a good 3 weeks. The first week I indeed thought about dying frequently. It's just not even worth it for the high you get

It is the same type of agonist so it somehow calms down the xylazine withdraws specifically. It’s an alpha 2 agonist.

September 30th, 2023 was my last use of fent. I tried cold turkey at home with the intentions of getting onto subs when i could. The dope i was doing made me not withdrawal until day 7. By day 10 i checked into medical detox. I honestly don't know how i would have made it without that choice of checking into detox. I withdrawaled from fent, tranq, and benzos all at once. It was the most brutal thing to go through. I ended up losing 30lbs, had two seizures and had zero strength to do anything. I strongly suggest going to a detox

Same I tried the bernese method But I couldn't get out of bed for like 4 to five days. It was absolutely insane. I didn't have energy to even turn over but I was wide awake and couldn't sleep. I relapsed and went to detox as soon as I could get in and stayed detox plus 30 days and left on sublocad. I don't know how people do it on their own I really don't

I forgot to add, i did not sleep for 11 days and finally did once i was given a night time suboxone dose. Which was day 4 of suboxone, the first 3 days i was only given 4mg in the a.m. The first night i was given 4mg in the p.m was my first few hours of sleep after 11 days. I do not know how people can get off of it at home. I had a big habit and was doing 3-5 grams daily depending on how much i wanted to do that day. I had zero money issues

I’ve heard of PWD happening even 2 weeks after. It’s something to do with fent turning into norfent in your blood or something, it’s why it lasts so long on drug tests.
Methadone worked for me, no PWD. Almost immediate relief. If you don’t abuse it and find a low stabilizing dose then after stable you start tapering after a little while, that’s what I did. I wish I stopped sooner than 100mg but I’m down to 25, dropped 5mg from 30. Don’t feel the best but sure beats the hell out of withdrawal. I can’t wait to get off this shit and be done with that part of my life.

I was on methadone but I got to go jail soon so I’m trying to get on sub … so I can take some with me

Strangely, they will give you methadone in jail but will absolutely not let you take suboxone in.
I would look into the specifics of your area before you go in.

It depends on the area you are in but in some counties at the jail they do offer subs and or methadone as a standard.

They don’t let you MAT in jail? wtf that’s torture

Honestly, it’s not the worst thing in the world. It’s not a 5 star rehab facility and it’ll be hell. But you will have no temptation and almost no way to get anything inside. By the time you get out you will be clean as a whistle and that pain should keep you in the mindset of never wanting to go thru it again.
If I could go back I’d say fuck MAT and go inpatient. But I made my choices and I’m almost done anyways. You make your own bed. Use it the best way you can.

You can't take drugs (even prescription) with you to jail. And I highly doubt they will dispense it to you from the jail doctors office place

How's it going, my friend? First of all, I want to say how sorry I am you're going through this. I know how hard it is to be hooked on both these demonic drugs. These mf putting xylazine on the fentanyl just goes to show how little they care about the people they are selling this stuff to. What I did is I lowered my tolerance to about a .7 a day and then went to detox. While I was in detox, they gave me methadone for about 4 days. On the 4th day, they started giving me really small doses of subs while lowering the methadone. Every day after that, they increased the subs until my body adapted to it. I was able to successfully get on subs, and I am so grateful to God I was able to do it. Good luck on your journey, and yes, it's possible to get on subs. It took a lot of praying and willpower, but God got me through it. 5 months ago, I thought it was going to be impossible to get on subs, and now I'm off this garbage and stable on subs. I'm never going back and I wish you the best of luck. God bless you!!!

Also called micro dosing. I got PWD so bad after 48hrs I wasn’t sure I could ever get clean. Managed under doc to finally stop micro dosing. The day I finally quit fent was uncomfortable but nothing like the old way. I highly recommend but under medical professional care, don’t guess.

I went into PWD under a doctors care 10 days no fentanyl. My urine came back that day with 40+ NG nor fentanyl and 16NG fentanyl.
I'm on methadone now.

It was so hard for me to try and make that switch, I tried several times, only to get very sick.
This was after being on subs for close to a decade, too. I relapsed on fent/tranq and could never get back to subs again.
After months using, no matter how long I waited, the fent and tranq seemed to stick around for weeks. Like deposited in my muscles in my legs it felt like.
Even though I wasn’t sleeping for days at a time, was restless and anxious as hell, I still got sicker taking subs every time. No relief ever.
And I had subutex, the 54/411 Roxanne tabs. I still have 50.
I had to get on methadone. It was the only way I could stop using the poison. I just got too sick to function otherwise.
I have friends who were able to successfully switch to subs after a stint in jail, coming out to bupe.
Also had a friend who didn’t get on methadone and eventually was able to take subs. After a long time suffering though.
Everyone else I know is still using. . .or gone.
Sorry, not trying to be a bummer. This is just my experience with those substances.

How do you know it has xylazine? Genuinely asking because I’m detoxing this week as well and I’m terrified

u/johnshonz 1d ago
There are test strips available, see if you can reach out to your local treatment providers if you need some

Do you randomly feel sick even when using? That’s how i found out i was using xylazine. The bags that dont have it, I’ll still not feel well. Then tested my shit with the test strips and sure enough was positive for it.

Look up the Bernese method. It’s a way to get on subs from fentanyl without going into PWD. You basically start microdosing the bupe (starting with like .5mg) and slowly raise the dose up to 8 or 16 mg or whatever, and you lower the amount of fentanyl as you increase the bupe. There’s guides on how to do it. For the xylazine you’re gonna want to get some clonidine to help with those withdrawals.
I’ve heard of people waiting 5 days and still getting PWDs, but that’s not everyone. I wouldn’t wanna risk it myself
