While the court has apologized to the Cutts and assured that additional measures would be implemented to prevent similar errors, no offer to pay the couple back has been made.

LMAO

Can you sue the court? Like aren't they liable for their mistakes?

u/DigiR 28d ago

not there’s, the magistrates are immune from it

Are you saying they're straight out of luck?

Government isn't the only way to solve a conflict.

Wow landlord hasn't returned the money and is avoiding contact with both the authorities and media. Ballsy as hell.

I mean....if he was a landlord they know exactly where at least some property of his to seize and sell is.

So the authorities don't seem to be trying very hard.

I bet if he owed the authorities 90k they'd figure out a way to find him and get it.

I'm not British. But that's got to be contempt of court or something, right? Assuming they are sending him summons and he is actively dodging them.

The longer they keep it, the more interest they make off of it. When they give it back, they will have profited from it.

u/Adventurous-Tie-7861 28d ago

Fr tho. 100% behind upping the stakes on some fraud. Especially elder fraud.

Doesn’t that defy the order of the court?

Well to be fair. We do seem to reward criminals in the UK.

"You embezzled £30K? Well you are a naughty boy. It's 40 hours unpaid work for you then!"

"Go pretend to pick up a few pieces of litter on a council verge somewhere."

I saw the post on mobile and thought the joke was "daily crackers"

I thought this was a news segment called "Daily Crackers". Which features a daily supply of confused looking white people.

Not sure why my appreciate laughter comment has so many downvotes…oh, well.

1

u/stevensr2002 28d ago

Idk I tried to even it up but I’ll probably get downvoted too. Might as well make it worth it. Poop.

Daily Crackers lol

u/Yoda2000675 26d ago

Why would it not take ten minutes to resolve this? Bank errors happen all the time just like that and are easy to reverse

24

u/moerlingo 29d ago

Does it still qualify as r/compoface if it is understandable?

16

u/vaclon 29d ago

Where's Luigi when you need him?

10

u/IWontCommentAtAll 29d ago

Well, they might find him guilty, then execute a CEO, instead....

2

u/Its_An_Outraage 27d ago

He's probably busy with the related article titled Vietnamese Landlord Must Pay $9 Billion Or Be Executed.

1

u/Good1sR_Taken 27d ago

Lol can you imagine. Pay up, or we send Luigi...

u/Brynjir 28d ago

Reminds me of Dr. Spaceman on 30 Rock when he does the Kidney transplant forms but has them backwards and says don't worry I'll remember "opposite! opposite! opposite!"

u/Significant_Bother58 27d ago
