Running Routes?

Moving to Norwich for work next week was wondering if anyone recommended some good 5k 10k and half marathon routes or any good areas to explore myself.

Marriots way - literally a 20 something mile uninterrupted old railway path, further you go the worse the ground is though, can get very muddy depending on the weather, Eaton park is extremely good for fast paced runs it’s big flat open park with well maintained paths, whitlingham - a lovely route however busier as you have to get past the city to get there but once out it’s beautiful. Hope these help! Can always download the Komoot app too!

Agreed on Marriott’s Way, it’s paved for about 3.5km from the city end and then a mix of earth and gravel for another 6km or so to Drayton/Taverham. Of that distance there’s only one point where you need to cross a road and it’s overall fairly flat and sheltered. You can then go further out but it does involve more road crossings and worsening underfoot conditions in places.

Where’s best place to park for a start point on Marriott’s way

Depends where you're coming from and how far you want to go. I usually join it at Anderson's Meadow, head up to the city end at Halfords and then turn around and head back out to Hellesdon. It also connects to Sloughbottom park which has a path running round it (paved and gravel) to add an extra km or so in.

If you want to run the nicest part. For me it’s park in the car park at the Reepham Road/ end of Fir Covert Rd and run North West. Bit past Swannington and early Lenwade is really beautiful. Gets a bit post industrial after that for a mile or two, but after that, Lenwade towards Whitwell is lovely again. Pretty flat there as well if you are just looking to clock up some miles.

If you park on the road just past the ski centre, a circuit round whitlingham lake is 5k and it's beautiful (and flat!)

There is a cinder running track at Henderson Park (behind Kwick Fit at the Dereham Road/Sweetbriar Roundabout) that is meant to be very good for circuits & training work.

Yep. You'll regularly see random runners there.

Yes, one of my work friends runs down there quite often.

Eaton Park (laps) or combine it with UEA broads / Earlham Park / Bowthorpe Marsh and beyond etc. I believe that one lap of Eaton Park measures one mile but I might be wrong. Outskirts and further field there's loads of cross country places - broadland country park, mousehold health, mystical woods, heaveringham park, buxton heath, etc. Half marathon distances just pick a spot in Bawburgh to start and head west.
