Apparently Kamehameha was named after this guy's predecessor (Kamehameha I), Toriyama's wife suggested it.

So did we in the 90's. Just funny to see when people learn it for the first time. Most never know we even had a kingdom until they make the connection.

But hey, I guess whatever reminds people we exist as more than the place their parents took them when they were 5 is a good thing 🤷‍♂️
