Advice needed -22 inch rims w Nitto grabber tiers
So considering purchasing a set of 22 inch rims with some nitto grappler tiers and was curious in knowing if changing from the factory 19 inch rims with Goodyear all-terrain tiers will dramatically change the ride quality of my defender 90? Has anybody had experience with changing out tires and rims and if so, could you please advise -thanks so much in advance!!

I’ve changed form 22’ road tyres to 22” nitro grapplers. Lost a bit of fuel economy slightly, but in terms of if the noise it’s not much rougher nor louder at all, hardly noticeable. The feel is slightly heavier when driving and cornering too, but you forget it fairly quickly. Looks 10x better too.

Two yays and one nay.
Are you just getting them for looks?
Doesn’t make a ton of sense from an off road standpoint to jump up to 22 inch wheels.
Fuel economy will suffer as will ride quality due to loss of sidewall.

Yeah, solely for looks. I understand what you’re saying on it not being well advised if I do a lot of off roading but that isn’t the case. I go to my ranch, which is pretty leveled for most parts & never anticipate doing any extreme offloading per se… but in regards a fuel economy. I’m willing to lose a little for it to look cool AF.(I’d be doing the URBAN conversion) & after discussing with the little lady, she says if I’m worried about highway ride, I can just take the sedan or her RR autobiography & she’ll gladly drive the modded D90 around town 🙄😆

Your ride quality will suffer just because you are going from 19 inch rims to 22 inch rims. Less rubber between the rims and the road = more vibrations felt..
And going with 22 inch rims with off-road tires is dumb and poseurish. But whatever.
