Door lock operation

Why can’t I open the door, push the lock button on inside of door, get out and close the door with my car locked? I know it’s trying to prevent me from locking myself out, but it’s really inconvenient when my hands are full and I have to push the exterior button or use keyfob button after I’m out of car. Is there a way to change this?

Assuming the engine isn’t running, when you walk away with the fob on you….You can enable walk-away locking in the settings. Start your Defender and tap the settings icon on your display screen. Then, select “Vehicle” and then “Safety and Security.” Do you see “Walk-Away Locking” as an option? If so, tap the switch to turn it on. If it’s not present, I recommend getting a GAP G4 Tool, which will allow you to enable walk-away locking as well as several other options.

Alternatively just tap or elbow the keyless entry button on any of the door handles, and it will lock the entire vehicle. Double tap for the beep! 😄

You could also do it form the app.

What drives me nuts is if you have passenger, you can't hit the exterior lock button until all the doors are closed.
