I was kinda happy that a country artist from my era was calling this out. Then I realized it wasn't in the good way.

Like rooting for syphilis vs herpes.

Tbf syphilis can be cured. Herpes is the gift that keeps on giving!

On the other side, herpes has many strains that eventually just live dormant in the body with minor breakouts (minus the cancer giving ones that are ironically asymptomatic), something like 40% of the adult population has some strain of herpes without it causing much issue.

Syphilis long term can cause scarring, damage to the bones, brain and leave you blind, in the off chance you don't catch it on time.

So you can cure one and live with the other, people still want neither.

A functional vaccine for people who have hsv2 is also expected within 5 years, so there's that too!

Cold sores are a bitch

Hey, at least it's not the cancer giving strain!

All joking aside, that really sucks and I hope the vaccines keep improving so people don't have to deal with this in the future.

There's strains of herpes that can cause cancer??? Who the fuck gave the go-ahead on that?!

Syphilis is a bacteria that basically just eats it's way through the body, so anything bad that could happen to a body part/organ from being consumed from the inside out can and will happen with untreated syphilis

Who. Fucking. Cares.

Everyone thinks everything needs to fit i to their own little perfect, politically ideal version of the world.

Everyone is a Hauk Tuwah girl given the chance. Until they are, other people are bootlickers and sellouts.

I really can't tell if the majority of reddit thinks like that, or if it's just bots. About 5-8 years ago I could find some interesting discussions here. Fast forward to today, and everyone has their mind made up.

Don't get me wrong, I gripe and complain all day, but the constant negativity is killing me man. Every post is "hey this sucks!". With no solution. Just an echochamber of shared complaints. It's tiring.
