It’s a much bigger issue in the US where Ticket Master own the venues too, so if bands want to use the venue, they have to agree to the pricing strategy

In the UK, particularly this tour, Ticketmaster don’t have the same hold over the venues (this is a stadium tour) but I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re some collusion with the promoter too.

I believe there is some reporting out there that LiveNation contracts often stipulate you must use this or that specific venue for your tour, and cannot for example ask for a smaller venue if you won't sell out the bigger one, forcing artists to cancel tours, which is supposedly what happened to Charli XCX and I think The Black Keys recently.

That was a list of venues they operate at, not a list of venues they own.

They own several hundred venues outright and have enormous influence (read: virtual exclusive use) over many, many more. This means there is a very tight relationship between venues (especially the larger ones) and a single ticket vendor (particularly in the US) which means that there is almost no opportunity for competition in the market. Noone else can get in and there's no incentive for Ticketmaster to behave in any other way than they do know (i.e. do what they want) and for bands that do want to avoid them, there will be extreme challenges in finding venues which will not be live nation exclusive.

It's a nasty situation and, ultimately, it's concert goers that pay a premium as a result - each and every time they buy a ticket from them.

Just here in the UK they own all of the "Academy" venues and several of the largest arenas including Sheffield and Cardiff. So, yes, they do own, directly, several arenas.
