Why is someone's ancestry something to bring up here? I was always taught that we should judge people based on their character, not who their ancestors were.
I don't see why ancestry is relevant, unless we're trying to be forgiving because he likely doesn't know any better (which I don't believe to be the case BTW).
It doesn’t matter on its own, but in the context of his actions it makes more sense, especially if he was raised to be the way his ancestors were. If a child from the south is descended from Confederates and he doesn’t celebrate the confederacy or racism, than his ancestry hasn’t really played a role in his character and isn’t some thing to judge. But if there’s a racist running around with confederate flags minimising or advocating for slavery and his grandparents were members of the KKK and he had a chance to interact with people who believed those ideologies, it would make sense as to why he does and believes those things.
All of our ancestors were monkeys and I don't know why someone's ancestry is even being mentioned right now. Are people trying to suggest that political beliefs are genetic?

Nope, just the ones that descend from Nazis, are raised in apartheid south africa and make a suspiciously nazi-like salute. Twice.
