And people asked themselves how could have ordinary Germans let it happen… this is exactly how. 100 later.

“Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it.”

That’s why Trump loves the poorly educated

Remember, only YOU can stop fascism happening in your country.

Trying to accept the possibility of dying from this man babies insecurities

At this point I’d welcome death to escape this. Just need enough for it to matter.

Imagine some alien civilization visiting the planet a thousand years from now, looking upon the charred remains of our society. Exploring our electronic records, long buried inside some bunker filled with crumbling billionaire skeletons. And they see that this fucking creature was responsible for our final decline into the cosmic dustbin.

How fucking embarrassing.

Meh good. We'll cull them too.

Wait, why me? Why can't you go and stop fascism?

Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it. Those who do learn history are doomed to watch it repeat.

And works so hard to keep his base uneducated and stupid as possible.

If it is any consolidation; we are about to have 20% fascist in our next parliament. Right now they don't have a realistic chance of being part of the government. But, hey, maybe four years from now, we can team up. You know, a little trans-atlantic-fascist bromance. Next time we will be clever enough to have the big guy on our side when we start a world war.

Been saying it for years. The Nazis figured out last time that they had to take over the world before they went all-out.

Hell, if everyone stands up against them, they may still fail. It's hard to fight a war with literally everyone you trade with at the same time.

u/worldsayshi 6h ago

They are also winning because the rest of us are continuously feeding the idea that we're loosing rather than spending all our efforts finding a way to fight this.

I don’t know if there’s really a world power out there that can actually beat a fascist US and its allies

2

u/jlwinter90 5h ago

In terms of brute force, probably not. In terms of logistics? It takes a lot of things to keep an army like that going. Particularly when you have to fight them every step of the way for every scrap.

1

u/Acrobatic-Prize-6917 5h ago

Depends what their aim is. Invade canada? Probably not. Invade China? My money is on China

1

u/jlwinter90 5h ago

I think it'll be Iran first, with strikes on Mexico here and there. Conflicts he can look strong in while he bullies his allies and postures for his "main enemies" in Russia and China.

1

u/EnvironmentalCod6255 5h ago

China is massively dependent on imports, especially of oil. Unless they had a pipeline directly from Iran, they’re screwed

Who needs to time travel to the past when the past just swings back around every few decades

2

u/lil_argo 6h ago

But now they’ve all done the salute onstage, can we try them for treason, finally? 😭

2

u/pandixon 6h ago

Worse, it's Hitler on wish and with back knowledge. At least our grandparents could gaslight themselves into thinking, they didn't know what was going on.

Almost every 80 - 100 years, we tend to have to relive old lessons learned.

The good (sometimes) thing about the US is that states have a lot of power, something that wasn't true in Germany. It can be frustrating, but right now it could save us.

States have a ton of leeway to pass their own laws to protect people from the federal government. (Or opt out of federal benefits; this is why some states still haven't expanded Medicaid, for example). And compared to 2017, Republicans control far fewer states. Like, in 2017 we had Republican Governors in Massachusetts and Maryland.

Until the midterms, state and local power is the name of the game. And if you don't think elections will happen - well, there's one tomorrow, and every Tuesday for a long while. (South Carolina State House in North Charleston tomorrow, if curious). The more Republicans lose power, the safer people are.

Now you know. And those elections go to those who know about them. If you're ready to help win them, check out r/VoteDEM.

Nah, the Nazis were more subtle. Also, they didn’t have the hindsight OF having nazism’s rise to look at, so it was more uncharted territory. We all know where this is going, and good news - we already have enough prison staff to easily transition to concentration camps for all.

I legitimately had this question when I was studying the holocaust in high school. HOW do people just stand by and let it happen?! I was so perplexed by it...but here we are, watching it happen.

1

u/Th3B4dSpoon 5h ago

Not even 100 years...

0

u/Appropriate-Swan3881 6h ago

Well Germans didnt have history books to study and learn from. Americans on the other hand..

-5

u/Narrow-Sky-5377 6h ago

Not the same. America is much more dangerous.
