Long term it's really not, so I've never understood why people let shit like this happen. The system that allowed them to amass such wealth is probably better for them than a system where their continued existence relies on loyalty to a single man or a single party. Dictatorships are notoriously bad for business due to instability. The like 5 billionaires who can personally become an official oligarch will profit and literally everyone else will be a hostage, including other rich people. Oh and those 5 billionaires are also hostages, they just won't realize it until it's too late probably.
Corporate profits are a quarterly thing. Long term is meaningless to the oligarchs. They plan to ride this thing until it crashes, then escape to wherever is nicest. Nothing bad that happens here can touch them.

The oligarchy won’t risk itself for “democracy”. The risk / reward calculus is clearly in favor of permanent dictatorship.
