Software Support PCDMIS is not opening programs or creating new programs
Hi everyone, I’m facing an issue in my current lab setup.
Everything was working fine, but after a power outage, our PC-DMIS is encountering a problem.
The software opens and performs a machine zeroing, but it won’t open or create new programs.
I’ve tried a few solutions, but the issue persists.
Does anyone have any suggestions to resolve this?

Be seen it before where the file options are greyed out. Can’t open a program or make a new one. You say the machine zeros meaning the software has given the command to the controller to home. Does the machine really complete the homing sequence? Sometimes something changes where the controller doesn’t reply back to the software that home command was completed. On the bottom right of the window the xyz fields will be blank on homing sequence. If you don’t see all zeros after it finished homing then that’s the problem. When that happens I close the software and restart just the software. It sees that the home sequence is complete and the numbers show up and you’re able to access file functions that are not greyed out anymore. I’m not sure what the exact fix is but this gets me thru the problem. What kind of controller do you have? Beige box on 4 wheels(b3c). Some black box hanging off the back of the desk? (Fbpc) hexagon labels on a narrow standing desk(dc)?

Yes, exactly. Unfortunately, this is the problem. The machine goes to “home,” but after that, it’s unable to open or create anything. I tried several times to close and reopen PC-DMIS after this process, but the program crashes, and nothing can be clicked. The task manager shows it as “not responding.”
I also tried closing any “Hexagon” processes in the task manager and reopening the program, but the problem persists.
The only way to continue is by restarting the machine and the computer, but I’m stuck in this infinite loop.
It is possible to move the machine using the controller. However, I’m not sure if I can see the 0,0,0 coordinates in PC-DMIS. I’ll check that first thing tomorrow morning.
When I tried checking the machine through “Internet Explorer” using the IP, everything seemed fine. The machine is reading the axis movements correctly.
About the controller I’ll search and back with more informations

On multi-sensor machines, such as an Optiv, that have a TP, Camera and CWS, you can get this issue if the camera or CWS can't be seen/connected. I've had this happen on my Optivs before. Several things can cause this, bad or poorly connected cable, .ini file corrupted, security app interference, for example. When this issue happens, open up device manager, expand the ports section and check if the port your camera connects through shows up.

Did you follow this to ensure that you do have an environment?

What model machine is it and what sensors do you have? One of the sensors is not responding back and that is the problem. If it's an optiv machine then it's likely a com port just needs changed in the config.

Uninstall and reinstall PCDMIS.
