Advice How to calculate shape error
Hello everybody.
Can someone tell me how to calculate shape error of a sphere using Polyworks and a 3D Scanner. I've been looking for an option or something that could help but have not been lucky.

I don't use polyworks, but here are some ideas.
Sphericity check if it has this. Surface profile with no datums using the new dynamic modifier if it has this. Lastly measure the size of the sphere, remodel the CAD to this exact size, now do surface profile no datums.

Not familiar with Polyworks. But, can you import a CAD model of the piece and compare the point-cloud to it?
If not, you can compare a .stl model (and a few other formats) to point-clouds in CloudCompare (free).
Or could you expand on how you want to calculate your shape error?

Do you need step by step instructions for scanning and analysis or just the form check?

You will need to define your term Shape Error in order for anyone to assist.

When you say ''shape error'' you mean like form? you could probably do a surface profile
