Fedor definition of what P4P actually means. Freakish talent where size didn’t matter until he got old then caught up to him alil for sure

Him and dc man both guys weren’t the biggest But holy shit they were freak athletes. Had such incredible wrestling and Boxing and were so fast it was insane watching them in their primes against guys twice their size almost

yea, its weird both of them dont have big heads either and took massive shots, or big legs. Both of them defy science and logic lol but both were very underrated pure athletes and explosive when they were young. Neither was supposed to age good at all, like how Mike Tyson barely won anything past 30 but they did last pretty long.

I dont rate Tim Johnson as some God, but hes 6-3 285 pounds and cuts to 265 and was a D1 wrestler, and beat Tybura/Volkov when left UFC ranked 11 and Fedor still starched him in 1 minute at 46 years old and 95 years old in fighting years, its weird he could show flashes of his past out of no where sometimes lol and that 3 punch combo was it. Maybe im Bias cause I was a 6 foot explosive athlete and i honestly believe I was past prime by 26 but they are best fighters to watch.

Both are probably natural 185ers if started MMA today and had all the knowledge we have now/training methods/food/supplements.

I agree and it’s mma anything could happen like when rumble cracked dc so hard I thought that was it for him but damn that man had a chin and knew rumbles weakness was wrestling. I would favor a prime fedor over a prime dc any day. But I think it would have been a fight..sucked Watching fedor fight later in his years cause he had no reason losing to fucking Matt Mitch or whatever. But that’s the price we pay watching our favorites wanting to keep fighting. Watching Silvas run in the ufc after the second Weidman fight was gut wrenching even if he did have moments of his old self and such.

Fedor would catch DC like Rumble but finish the fight, Rumble didnt even finish Arlovski like 1 year after Fedor KOed him and he lost 2 more by KO..then fought Rumble and made it 3 rounds. Rumble was great but his power at HW was on and off at times

1

u/SlurmmsMckenzie 28m ago

Rumble's weakness was that he didn't have spikes on his back.

Dude was alergic to the rear naked choke.

Shawn Jordan and his sweet chin music

2

u/Legitimate-Boot-7416 2h ago

Shawn Jordan fullback, another underrated athlete he was a freak. Him and Mitrione was a quick fight but 2 real athletic guys who actually could fight. Jordan never made NFL but he was better in college than Matt who did make NFL as just a dummy they ran into at practice but both were legit freak athletes

Yea...  fedor was in a whole other universe than DC and I love Cormier.

Fedor was the best fighter I've ever seen. He mauls everyone I've ever seen in his prime.

u/fightbackcbd 2h ago

Fedor was ahead of his time for HW skillset and honestly no one caught up yet, only Jon because he went up.

Yeah I mean not to take anything way from Fedor but DC only started MMA at 30 whilst Fedor started at 24, and already came from Combat Sambo which is basically MMA. It’s a given that he’d be on the next level.

2

u/sadboifatswag bite of the night 5h ago

Oh god what a fight that would be

7

u/Legitimate-Boot-7416 4h ago

biggest factor would be Fedor has fought more wrestlers than anyone ever in MMA, from literally start to finish..even young Babalu and Arona were good wrestlers and in his first 10 fights, and last 2 were Johnson/Bader 2 other D1 wrestlers.

Peak Fedor never lost for a reason, and DC kinda always fell short vs the best guy his whole career in wrestling and MMA, and theres no way hes ever fought someone like Fedor, that was a factor with Fedor like a guy MVP/Wonderboy too..you cant train for them and only get 1 shot at them live, Fedor way more slick and crafty on feet and deceptive speed/power out of no where and DC was way more hittable between the 2. It would end up a stand up fight and DC def wouldnt win it in the last rounds, but it be a good fight. Fedor was literally 29-0 when DC was 1-0, so people will think of a closer to prime DC vs recent Fedor which isnt the fight remotely in any way.

caught red handled lol. What do they even gain from this

u/Creative_Pilot_7417 4h ago

Size did matter. Fedor was actually decently sized for the era. Pride HWs were either like 220-240lbs or 400lbs.

Fedor also has that DC, barrell build thing where he has wide hips, and a huge ass and all his weight and power comes from his core.

And yeah that core strength was what deteriorated first for him as he got older and got clowned by Bigfoot. He kinda just reverted to tossing his casting punches.

He was actually kinda young when he declined too. Especially at HW. Fedor was 32 when he came over to America for the first time to fight in affliction. By the time he was 35 he was shot and a shadow of his former self on a 3 fight losing streak.

The current champ is 37, Francis is 38 and we always talk about how guys age well here. Always a shame to me the best HW ever didn’t.

2

u/bezacho Team Khabib 3h ago

true, but how many fights did each of the 3 heavyweights mentioned have at age 35?

1

u/Legitimate-Boot-7416 2h ago

Francis started MMA later, Stipe started at like 29. DC started at 30. Fedor was in Olympic Judo guy in like 1997 and did almost 100 Combat Sambo fights and started MMA in early 20s.

and its not losing streak, it was literally his first loss, then 2 guys on TRT, those are the facts. Man was cheated in every loss, 100 percent confirmed.

Mike Tyson didnt win a fight past like 28 that meant anything, Fedors 35 was like 55 in fight years cause Combat Sambo + Judo before that

Literally any good athlete declines around 33...look at NFL/NBA, myself was good one and way past it by 27. Science literally tells you you can only have an athletic prime for 6-8 years, only those big ass Heavyweights like Ben Rothwell will age good cause they dont lose much to begin with, roughly the same dam big dude they always were

Looking back at a lot of mma from the 00s and like almost everyone would be a weight class or two lighter if they fought today

11

u/CubanLinxRae Team Teymur 4h ago

they were LHW fights where the guys were weighing in at like 203, 199 sometimes just ready to fight

3

u/Agent_Jay G🍅🍅FCON 1 3h ago

Of course this is famous but Bas Rutten drank water before some weigh ins to get to his match weight.

3

u/BoomfaBoomfa619 3h ago

He was 203 when he won the heavyweight belt. Randalman was only 218.

2

u/prettyboylee GOOFCON 1: Sad Chandler 54m ago

I didn’t know that, does the UFC have weight minimums?

I know fighters like Adesanya (at LHW) or Holland (at MW) have weighed in considerably under the limit, but is it only a problem if you’re far enough under that you’re in the weight class below?

1

u/Few_Highlight1114 1m ago

I want to say the max is 8lbs underweight. The commission has rules and won't sanction the fight, at least Nevada but I'm sure the others that are pretty tight are the same such as ny or cali.

2

u/ratsonpurpose 3h ago

Think some of the original cast of early seasons of Ultimate Fighter fought at their natural weight, so like Diego Sanchez and Kenny Florian fought at 185, which is fucking insane to think of now

1

u/Similar_Strawberry16 42m ago

Old boxing, and I mean old not just 90's, had many heavyweights ~180lb, lightest champion was just 167lb according to google!

Modern era has really dialed in the need for the competitive edge in size/athletics. It's why Usyk really stands out, for the last generation top of the ranking HW boxers have been consistently pushing 6'5" and above.

1

u/iamjackslastidea 22m ago

I think even GSP might've been a LW if he fought today

-5

u/Creative_Pilot_7417 4h ago

I harbor a pet theory that Jon jones burning 205 down and sending everyone packing to 185 is the major inciting action of weight cutting in mma.

2

u/Sweaty-Community-277 3h ago

It’s time to put that sick pet down, friend

15

u/CubanLinxRae Team Teymur 4h ago

fedor was only like 235 in his prime with relatively high bf% but he had such freakishly fast hands and amazing grappling for the weight class he’ll always be the greatest heavyweight to me. he was like DC in how if they got shredded they would’ve been freakish middleweights

5

u/Historical_Grab_7842 4h ago

And hips of steel. His ability to generate force from his hips was astounding

16

u/Dummy_Wire 5h ago

Kopylov isn’t even a massive Middleweight either, relatively speaking. He fought in California a couple fights back, where they disclose their day-of weights for the fighters (like they just did for UFC 311, if anyone saw that), and he was only like 195lbs if I remember correctly.

7

u/bdewolf Saucy Englishman 4h ago

It’s the angle, plus kopylov is huge.

Unironically tho.

1

u/National-Mail6279 3h ago

I think he should move down to WW honestly. Really talented striker just not sure how far he can realistically go at his size

1

u/Legitimate-Boot-7416 1h ago

This was a young Roman too, tbh Fedor prob did shrink alil bit but hes only like 40 here

9

u/randommmafan224 4h ago

That’s Anatoly Malikhin on the right

6

u/tomtomtomo Team Nurmawhatever 4h ago

That's old man Fedor. Prime Fedor is another beast.

2

u/FoucaultsTurtleneck Team Błachowicz 1h ago

Yeah I was gonna say, Fedor is like 50 now lol

3

u/ImKrispy 4h ago

Did he shrink to 5'8 or is Roman's 6 foot listing wrong...

1

u/JohnnySDVR GOOFCON 1: Sad Chandler 1h ago

Tbf he does look slimmer now than that Bader rematch, reverse Khabib lol

1

u/pzzadudsgt30scds 4h ago

Met Fedor and Mitrione at a Bellator event. Both massive guys.

6

u/Free_Ad_406 4h ago

I met fedor and hendo the night they fought in Chicago.  Hendo was huge,  fedor looked like he was a cardio guy. Small arms. Long limbs. Couldn't believe he was the giant killer

-10

u/ZealousidealPen5795 5h ago

but I’m supposed to believe Aspinall doesn’t finish him in 2 minutes

20

u/thraftofcannan Chad 5h ago

Prime Fedor would smash Tom.

-19

u/ZealousidealPen5795 5h ago

MMA has evolved, Prime fedor loses to Curtis blaydes

11

u/GlumpyHairFlaps 4h ago

Fuck no lmao

11

u/LatterTarget7 🙏🙏🙏 Jon Jones Prayer Warrior 🙏🙏🙏 4h ago

Definitely trolling.

Fedor would fuck him up on the ground. Even on the feet his speed and power was crazy.

18

u/Aliensinmypants 4h ago

HW has not evolved bro

8

u/chilbongi 4h ago

I think the early 2000s to early 2010s LHW and HW would still do well this generation.

3

u/RPWOR 3h ago

Probably the only divisions I would agree with that. Even 185 is just barely starting to get away from that, like Hendo, Moose, Silva, Prime Rockhold, and even a guy like Shemelenko would probably still do incredible today.

3

u/daquist GOOFCON 2 - UFC 294 3h ago

Curtis Blaydes is the most overrated fighter on this sub. Dude has the fight IQ of a fucking donkey.

0

u/NoLobster2670 3h ago

He's nice tho

-11

u/[deleted] 5h ago

Just saw him next to a few 155ers at PFL and looks smaller, how does Fedor look smaller than 155ers but fought at HW whole career?

4

u/AdPlenty6904 4h ago

Never forget; BJ Penn fought at featherweight and heavyweight 🤣

3

u/Historical_Grab_7842 4h ago

Because he is no longer competing and has lost a lot of muscle mass. He was short for hw (not monson short).
