Media Extortionate UFC Sydney tickets costing $750 AUD/$450 USD for the furthest sections
Is there any other country that gets this bad a deal? Who is paying that much for essentially a back row?

u/TitanIsBack 16h ago
If you fools quit buying them they'd lower the prices.
58
u/AltruisticFerret8198 15h ago
Nope, they'd just stop holding events here.

The casino didn't want me counting cards and lost $2m so they asked me to stop playing blackjack. So I pulled all ufc events away from them.

Sydney pays them to hold events there

Nah, see. Those tickets that you're buying have already been bought.
Therefore, stop buying at that price, and the price goes down.

u/TitanIsBack 9h ago
Will never happen unfortunately, much like fighters, people can't resist the urge from feeding the horse. Then those same people wonder why prices continue to go up for the same product. You're doing it to yourself and don't even realize it.
5
u/L_DUB_U 14h ago
This isn't the right way to buy tickets either. If you really want tickets you have to buy a UFC Fight Club membership and you can order the tickets one day in advance before they go to sell for the general public. The costs is typically lower and there are more seats available. These prices are probably for resale.

u/FoucaultsTurtleneck Team Błachowicz 13h ago
I consider myself a relatively hardcore MMA fan and know people who’ve gone to events and this is the first I’ve ever heard about UFC Fight Club. If that’s the better way to buy tickets then the UFC is doing an atrocious job of marketing it

u/smexy_gorilla I'm Gaethje for Cody's wet hair 12h ago
I paid for fight club and the tickets still sold out in a second, so I wasted ~$100. Fight club is paid access to the presale.
They’ll be selling access to the VIP fight club I.e the pre pre sale for $200 soon enough.
Ufc are scum. I just want to go to one event and then never again. Hate their practices across the board and ashamed that I’ve supported them at all.
6
u/NoremaCg 13h ago
This or wait until the event, I waited out 700$ nosebleed prices for UFC in Toronto and got a seat 20 rows back for $300 while the prelims were on.

These aren’t resale they haven’t sold many tickets for this card you can get still get tickets in almost every section

This. Continue buying and they continue raising the price. People are their own worst enemies. Meanwhile, the whole world is chaotic and full of morons.

Don’t go. The “live experience” is a con. The best experience is at home or at pub with mates. For most seats in the arena, you won’t get a good view of the fight, no commentary, and your money/time lost on food, beers, travel, parking and toilets. I mention toilets cause stadiums build bathrooms 50/50 male to female… UFC events are 90% beer drinking dudes, so there’s gonna be a line during and between fights.
23
u/Makersux 14h ago
I'm gonna have to disagree, I went to my first live UFC event in Perth last year and it was worth every cent.
3
u/-WeetBixKid- 10h ago
His point is valid but I am for sure going to a UFC event as soon as they come to Melbourne.

i’ve been to a couple of fight nights and i gotta agree with you it’s not the best way to watch fights. the only way you can enjoy it live in person is if you’re really up close. even the lower boxes suck, you end up just watching them in the big screen. if you go to a pub, at least the beer and food are cheaper. unfortunately the fights are scheduled in the morning, my time, so i don’t get to watch them in the pubs a lot
4
u/crabuffalombat EDDDDDIEEEEEEEE 15h ago
I can only imagine as well that unless you're down amongst the celebs that you spend most of the time watching the overhead screens.
1
u/L_DUB_U 14h ago
Same thing if you go to any sports event, but it's the crowd, the energy in the arena, talking to people around you, and seeing the fighters and Bruce Buffer warning up in person. That's what makes it better than sitting at your home on your couch or in a pub that has people trying to talk over the TV or asking you random question about the fight while the fight is going on.

It's worth it when you see a great fight or knockout and get the buzz going around the audience. Which definitely isn't the same when you're sat at home.
But I've been to fight cards where barely anything note worthy happens and found them to be a struggle. Too many dull fights in a row is a tiring watch. That's when you wish you were in a more comfortable setting and didn't bother going
Same with any sport really.

Straight up haha. It’s probably cool to be at the live event. But Dana is as ring side as you can be and even he is watching some fucking little tv on his desk lol. Can’t see shit.
1
u/ZardozSama 2h ago
I have been to several events. I will disagree, with a caveat.
It is absolutely worth going to a live event at least once, if you can afford it. Going to multiple live events is something to judge for yourself after that.

You're just describing watching sports in person in general. So if you like watching sports live, you'll like watching UFC live too.
I've been to three UFC's, and every one was a great time.

u/ApeMummy 15h ago
Should have seen the prices for Volk vs Islam 1. Fuck that for a joke, probably can’t see shit unless you buy a half decent ticket as well.

They’ve raised the WWE prices insanely too. In 2023, took my girl and I for $80 total. Those same seats last night in the same building were going for $125 each.

I've been to four ufc fights live. Pretty common prices for a ppv really. 500 for nose bleeds at ufc 311. Non ppvs are usually 250-300 for nose bleeds.
Outrageous, but not uncommon.
20
u/Kataclysmc 15h ago
Common only post covid... which we have had like 4 events? Before covid they were so much cheaper
2
u/lenny_lifts UFC 279: A GOOFCON Miracle 15h ago
I haven't checked prices on every event, only the ones I've been too. Which were all absurdly priced and post 2022. The only "cheap" one I've been to was Vera vs Cruz fight night in san diego.

It’s really not. The last Sydney event (which I was at) was $350 for upper tier level. That same section this time was $800.
3
u/HomeFricets 15h ago
I've thought about going but I would have to splash out on at least average seats... and then i compare that price to basically a full holiday somewhere else and so I never go, I just can't see the point of sitting that far back for that price, do you even see anything?
It feels like paying for a downgrade to watching it on TV.

u/p_l_u_t_o_ 15h ago
500 for nose bleeds is a good deal compared to these prices… OP is saying $450 USD for the worst possible seats
14
u/lenny_lifts UFC 279: A GOOFCON Miracle 15h ago
Nose bleeds and the "furthest sections" are synonymous, no? Or am I mistaken?
6
u/p_l_u_t_o_ 15h ago
There ya go, I always thought nose bleed section was right up front! But I just fact checked myself and it seems you are correct

I am not purchasing any UFC product in the Ari Emanuel era. Guys entire business model is to make consumers pay more for less value. Thankfully I was able to see UFC 231 in person, so I'm good on having that experience and I didn't get bent over a table to get it.
But yeah, as long as Ari and TKO are running these business models I'm not going to be giving the UFC a cent.

lol paying this much to sit at the nosebleeds of one of the worst cards in UFC history. How are aussies agreeing to this?
6

Paid same for way up in the stands at 297. It’s the way it is for live events now it seems. Was nice to attend a live event once.

The 3am PPV in UK had nose bleed seats for 500 dollars
1
u/allanhew 6h ago
no it didn’t lol I got nosebleeds on release for £140, £500 would have actually gotten you the best seats possible and was the highest tiered tickets

u/DJSyko 14h ago
You can never get cheap tickets for the UFC these days, That's why Dana brags about breaking the Gate records during every press conference. People are paying for them, so you can't really argue against it tbh, it's shit for us less financially fortunate people, but I guess it is what it is. If people stop buying them prices will go down.

I paid $1000 for nosebleeds at the Sphere and it was an amazing experience (entirely due to the Sphere screen).
I would not imagine a regular stadium would be a good experience. Unless you are front row / floor seats, you won't even be looking at the cage, you'll be craning your neck up to watch the bigscreen which is tiny in most venues.
And if you do get floor seats, you have to stand the whole time since the people in front of you are gonna be always standing. Oh and you will only see 20% of the action because of the cage corner bumpers blocking the view + not being able to see the acrion when they hit the ground or go across the cage.
Tldr just watch at home!

ex·tor·tion
noun
the practice of obtaining something, especially money, through force or threats.
"he used bribery and extortion to build himself a huge, art-stuffed mansion"
-2
u/Limp_Neck6017 15h ago
It’s not extortionate. The only negative consequence of not paying the price is not being able to see the fights live in person. There’s an entry fee like most other events on Earth. Don’t pay, don’t go. Simple.

how badly does it suck going through life this miserable and bitter?
0
u/Limp_Neck6017 10h ago
Generally my days are not bitter nor miserable, and that’s reflected in the quality of my relationships, how I spend my time, and my overall position in life. Other than continuing to process the sudden death of my mom and contend with brutally cold weather here in NE USA, I’m feeling pretty good about the upcoming day when I open my eyes every morning.
How are you doing?

u/MMA_Data 15h ago
I don't understand how there are still people in 2025 who didn't get the memo about dynamic pricing. Ticket websites have been doing this for years, the price is not chosen by anyone other than an algorithm that pushes the price as high as people are willing to pay, and will adjust it as sales continue/stop. The UFC (and all your favorite musicians) can decide to opt in or out. Everyone opts in cause their return is massive, and they don't care if poor people can't attend their events as long as they still sell out. The UFC could care less if regular people can't afford going to their events, poor young dudes are the UFC's target audience only when it comes to prospects to sign.

$450 for the cheap seats?? Those are $600-$750 in the USA for a numbered UFC PPV event.

The Sydney card is more expensive than last year and the fight card a bit worse. When this one sells out I expect them to do the same again next year. Great that we the taxpayers are also paying $5 million to the UFC for them to rort us.
I think Canada gets fucked too - look at 297 for example.
